Ohtani Can't Stop, Won't Stop

+ Some footie action and accomplishments

Good Morning and Happy Friday. We made it to the weekend and we made it to the preseason for NFL. You know we like to keep it under 5 minutes so here’s what got today.

⚾️ Ohtani Don’t Stop

⚽️ World Cup Bracket Set

🏈 NFL Hall of Fame Game

🏈 More Conference Movement

🏀 A Massive Accomplishment

Let’s get this party going so you can get paid and get out of the office.

Ohtani Can’t Be Stopped

Shohei Ohtani was pitching last night and he had to come out of the game due to cramping. This wasn’t just any type of cramping, it was his middle finger cramping.

Okay cool, so his finger hurts and you take him out of the game. We’re all done, right?

NOPE!

Ohtani went out and hit his 40th home run of the season, still leading the MLB by the way.

Of course, the Angels still lost the game to the Seattle Mariners when Cade Marlowe hit a 9th-inning grand slam.

The Angels have 52 games left, I wonder what home run number Ohtani will get to.

World Cup Round of 16 Is Set

The Women’s World Cup finished the group stage yesterday and the round of 16 is set. The games will start Saturday morning and finish on Tuesday. The quarterfinals will start on Thursday.

Here’s the bracket.

NFL Hall of Fame Game

The NFL kicks off the preseason every year with an early game deemed the “Hall of Fame Game” where they play at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

This year’s game hosted the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns. The Browns won 21-16.

Brown’s rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson was the star of the game as he led the Browns to the win when he led Cleveland down the field with a 10-play, 78-yard TD drive to give the Browns the go-ahead lead.

The rest of the preseason games will start next Thursday.

Arizona Might Make Conference Moves

I’m not sure how much more conference realignment there could be, but I’m sure we’ll continue to get surprised.

With the Pac-12 seemingly falling apart in the present moment, the University of Arizona may make a move to the Big 12. The school is in the final stages of finalizing the deal and would be the 4th school to be heading out of the Pac-12 after USC and UCLA are heading to the Big 10 and Colorado is moving to the Big 12.

A Massive Accomplishment

Diana Taurasi became the first WNBA player to reach 10,000 career points and she did in quite a way.

Taurasi who is 41, is the oldest player to score more than 40 in a game in the WNBA since Cynthia Cooper did it in 1999, when Cooper was 36. Taurasi scored 42 points and this was her first 40-point game in the regular season since 2010.

Just to put this into perspective, the next person on this list behind Taurasi is more than 2,500 points away from the top.

That’s all for today. Enjoy your Friday and enjoy them happy hours!
