Ohtani Hits 30th

Happy Saturday! We hope your 4th of July weekend is off to a great start. We’re talking a little baseball, basketball, lax, and golf today so let’s get right to it.

Ohtani Hits 30th Homer

Shohei Ohtani obliterated his 30th home run of the season last night with a 493-foot shot in right field. This was Ohtani’s 15th home run in June. Ohtani is the 4th player in history to have 30 homers before July.

The Sacramento Kings are getting all of their signings out of the way early. The team signed a 3-year deal with EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov. Vezenkov is a 6’9” forward who plays for Olympiacos in Greece. The contract is a 3-year, $20 million deal. This is a good piece to the Kings’ puzzle as they will try to remain formidable in the West next season.

The Memphis Grizzlies extended Desmond Bane to a 5 year, $207 million deal. This is the first $200 million deal for the Grizzlies organization. Bane was drafted in 2020 and he’s been a prolific shooter for the Grizz, averaging over 40% on threes since he’s been in the league.

World Lacrosse Championship

USA and Canada face off in the World Lacrosse Championship Gold Medal game tonight at 7 pm ET on ESPN2.

PGA Tour

Taylor Moore and Taylor Pendrith are in the lead at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and they sit at 13 under par after two days of golf. There are 51 golfers who sit within 5 strokes of the lead so the final two days of the tournament will be interesting.

What’s the surprise of the weekend so far? Tony Finau missing the cut! He was last year’s winner with a -26 score and he was bounced from the tournament after.

The other surprise? The cut line was -4. Even if you played pretty good golf over the first two days and came in 3 under, you were getting sent home. Golf is hard, even when you’re playing well.

Tune into the Golf Channel from 1-3 pm ET and NBC from 3-6 pm ET to catch the action today.

That’s all for today. Have a great day!
