Ohtani Is A Sho-Off

But is it enough?

Good Morning. August is always a slow month for sports but there’s good news…we’re only 7 days away from college football!

Even with a slow month, we’ve still got some things to send your way on a Saturday morning so here’s what we got today:

⚾️Ohtani Shines But The Angels Fall Short

🏈The First Father-Son Duo to Go Through Saban\

⚽️ World Cup Update

⛳️ BMW Championship

📺️ What’s on TV Today

Ohtani Shines Again

Shohei Ohtani is tied at the top of the home run leaderboard with Atlanta’s Matt Olson. They both have 43 homers but Shohei’s came in a different fashion yesterday.

Ohtani hit a grand slam for the LA Angels yesterday in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. The grand slam would give the Angels a 5-1 lead in the second inning but the Rays would rally and get the game into extra innings. The Rays would drive in 3 runs in the top of the 10th to grab an improbable win after being down 4 early.

Saban Has First Father-Son Duo Go Through Bama

Dre Kirkpatrick Sr. played cornerback for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2009 to 2011. Kirkpatrick Sr. would be drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals and played 10 seasons in the NFL.

Nick Saban is defining more than his own legacy now. He has Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. committing to Alabama for the 2024 year. This is the first father-son duo to go through the Alabama program with Saban as the head coach.

Now the question begs if Saban will be there for Kirkpatrick Jr.’s college career. Saban is 71 currently. Can he really coach at the caliber until he’s 76?

World Cup Update

Sweden defeated Australia 2-0 in the 3rd place game this morning in Brisbane. It was an impressive run for the host team but Sweden outperformed the Aussies scoring on a PK in the 30th minute and would score again in the 62nd minute.

England and Spain face off in the World Cup Finals tomorrow at 6 am ET on FOX. Set the alarm clock now so you don’t miss the action.

BMW Championship

Max Homa grabs the outright lead at the BMW Championship after he had a strong finish as he birdied four of his last five holes. Homa sits at 10 under and is followed closely by Chris Kirk who is 8 under, and both Matthew Fitzpatrick and Brian Harman who are 7 under.

Homa isn’t too far out of reach though. There are 20 golfers who are within 8 strokes of the lead and all of these golfers can match Homa’s 2nd round score of 62 and give themselves a shot at the top of the leaderboard.

Today’s coverage starts at 1 pm ET on the Golf Channel and moves over to CBS at 3 pm ET. You can continue to stream on ESPN+.
