Packers Embarass The Cowboys

+ Other Playoff News

Happy MLK Day! We hope you all enjoy the holiday, time off from work, and a bonus football game, thanks to the snow in Buffalo.

Let’s cover the first four playoff games of the weekend, and we’ll make today a quick one so you can enjoy the extra time off.

Cleveland Browns 14 | Houston Texans 45

⁉️We questioned whether or not CJ Stroud could get the Texans to a playoff win in his rookie year. Yeah, the Texans just snuck into the playoffs by winning their division, but they certainly didn’t sneak by wild card weekend.

👉️ The game wasn’t easy from the start but things started to unravel for the Browns when Joe Flacco proved he might not be that elite after throwing back to back pick sixes in the 2nd half.

✈️ Stroud added on the defensive touchdowns for the Texans by throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns, and he was the youngest QB to win a playoff game

Miami Dolphins 7 | Kansas City Chiefs 26

🥶Yes, it was very, very cold in Kansas City. It was -5 with windchills of -20, but the temps on the field were much warmer due to the ground being somewhat heated, and the sidelines had a heater as well. It was so cold that Patrick Mahomes’ helmet cracked when he took a hit after scrambling for some extra yards.

👎️ This was a very different Dolphins offense that we were used to seeing, and it’s kind of like we mentioned this earlier in the season. The Phins could really beat up some terrible teams but struggled against any good, physical teams. The Dolphins only had 264 total yards of offense, and they had 1 of 12 on the 3rd down conversion. Not ideal. Tua was 20 of 39 for 199 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. That completion percentage only looks better because about 10 of those completions were bubbles or RB swings

👉️ The Chiefs racked up over 400 yards on offense with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 262 yards and 1 TD and the Isiah Pacheco led the rushing attack with 89 yards on 24 carries for 1 TD.

🦵 The real MVP of this game was kicker Harrison Butker. He was 4 for 4 on field goals on a windy Kansas City night.

❓️ What’s next for the Dolphins? Tua will be on the last year of his rookie deal next year, and Mike McDaniel is 0-2 in playoff games. Miami hasn’t won a postseason game since 2000!

Green Bay Packers 48 | Dallas Cowboys 32

👉️ Well, everything was looking good for the home teams in the playoff so far. Home-field advantage is something that every team wants, and Dallas did everything they could to get the two seed and guarantee themselves at least two home games in the playoffs, assuming they would play the 49ers in the NFC Championship. There’s just one problem.. you need to win the wild card round first.

😆Green Bay would come to town and upset the Cowboys in the most hilarious way. Heck, even Green Bay has more playoff wins in AT&T Stadium than the Cowboys do.

👀 Look, I’m a Cowboys fan and watching that game you couldn’t help but see a few spots where if a flag is called or maybe the ref was a little to flag happy that some momentum could’ve shifted the Cowboys way. But here’s the deal: Dallas got outplayed and outcoached. Green Bay had the run game open whenever they wanted and the receivers had separation on the Cowboys’s defense all game.

📉 Mike McCarthy looked like he was calling plays again in week three and limited the Cowboys with playcalling. It didn’t help that Dak also threw two picks, with one giving GB great field position and the other resulting in a pick-six. The Cowboys gave the Packers 14 points.

👉️ Jordan Love shined in his first playoff start as he completed 76% of his passes for 3 TDs and was clean in the INT column. Aaron Jones carried the ball 21 times for 118 yards and 3 TDs.

LA Rams 23 | Detroit Lions 24

❗️This is the Detroit Lions first potseason win since 1992 and it started off a QB masterclass where Jared Goff was a perfect 9/9 for 111 yards at the end of the first quarter. Matthew Stafford was throwing his own dimes, too, in the stadium where he spent the first 12 seasons of his career

👀 The Lions came out aggressive and scored touchdowns on their first three possessions, forcing the Rams to play come-from-behind football for the entirety of the game. That came from behind football and forced Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay to make some tough calls. Stafford took shots downfield on 3rd downs and what I felt was clearly four-down territory. If he could’ve taken the short-yardage option on a few plays, the Rams could’ve had some more manageable 4th down options. One call that sticks out to everyone today is McVay’s choice to punt from the DET 44 on 4th & 14 with 4:15 remaining in the 4th while losing 23 to 24. The Rams were hoping to make a stop on defense and get the ball, but that never happened.

💪 The Lions played ball like they have all season. They made aggressive calls when needed and stuck to their game plan. Another + for Detroit is their defense. Even though the Rams almost made a comeback, it looks like the Detroit defense might be coming around just in time.

👉️ The most unbelievable part of this entire story is that Detroit will host another playoff game next weekend now that the Cowboys were upset by the Packers.
