Paternity Leave Is Earned
Not Given!
GOOD MORNING!
Well, that’s one way to kick off Paternity leave for the #1 golfer in the world. Let’s take a closer look at the Masters on this great Monday and then we’ll look at the NBA playoffs.
Here we go!
Scheffler Wins Again
Scottie Scheffler has won the Masters Tournament for the second time in just three years! Scheffler won $3.6 million for his performance and fired a 4-under par 68 today to seal the deal.
There are a number of reasons why this is considered such a great victory.
Just winning the Masters alone is awesome
Winning it twice is a rarity.
Winning it twice in a three-year span has only happened once before!
Scheffler’s last four tournaments have resulted in wild finishes. He has a win, win, T-2, and then this win. That’s a crazy streak!
📺️ You can check out highlights from the Masters right here.
Get this....
Scottie’s earnings for 2024 are just over $15 million, which means his caddy has likely made around $1.5 million. That would place his caddy in about the top 50 earners for golfers on the PGA Tour. That’s insane!
If you watched any of the Masters this weekend, you’ll know that Scottie Scheffler’s wife is pregnant with their first child, and while she’s not due for a few weeks, Scottie was prepared to withdraw from the Masters if their baby was coming early. Well, he obviously was able to finish the tournament without needing to go back home to Dallas immediately, but man, winning this bucket of $$ is one great way to start off some paternity leave! The now is when will see Scottie again? Will he be at the PGA Championship in mid-May or will we possibly not see him until the U.S. Open at Pinehurst in June?
NBA Playoffs
The NBA regular season is over and the playoff picture is set! Here's a quick summary:
Playoff teams: The top 6 teams in each conference (East and West) are in the playoffs.
Play-in tournament: The 7th and 8th seeds in each conference play a mini-tournament to determine the final two playoff spots.
East Playoff Teams: Boston, New York, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Orlando, Indiana
West Playoff Teams: Oklahoma City, Denver, Minnesota, LA Clippers, Dallas, Phoenix
East Play-in: Philadelphia vs Miami, Chicago vs Atlanta
West Play-in: New Orleans vs LA Lakers, Sacramento vs Golden State
Top Seeds: Oklahoma City (West) and Boston (East) clinched the #1 seeds.
The play-in tournament starts April 16th and the first round of the playoffs starts April 20th.
Here’s what the bracket looks like…

Wondering how we even got here?
Well, if we just look at the top seeds in the East, Boston was always a #1. The last few weeks, Milwaukee sh*t the bed and was probably scared of a possible matchup with the 76ers, and they lost a bunch of games. The Knicks found their way to a 2 seed in the East, which was helped by the Bucks’ bad play.
The top of the West was a bit of a mess with there being a 3-way tie, but that all got figured out yesterday when OKC smoked Dallas, Minnesota lost to Phoenix, and Denver beat Memphis. All this resulted in OKC getting the 1 seed, Denver the 2 and Minnesota the 3. Phoenix also got lucky that they could avoid the play in games and got the 6 seed, thanks to the Lakers beating the Pelicans yesterday.
It’s a lot to take in on a Monday. Take a day to relax and regroup. We’ve got more hockey to chat about tomorrow and we’ve got to get a closer look at the NBA play-in games.
Have a great start to the week and we’ll see you tomorrow!
