A Playoff Snapshot
Welcome to the final day of 2023, and welcome to week 17 of Sunday football. We’re going to take a look at all the games today, as almost every game has some type of playoff impact on the NFL.
There were some wild scores yesterday, and we’ll have to recap those tomorrow or Tuesday so we can go through all of the NFL games today.
Let’s get started.
NFL Sunday
Early Games (1 pm EST)
Miami @ Baltimore
📺️ Broadcast on CBS
💰️ Baltimore is favored at -3.5, and the O/U is 46.5
📷️ If Miami finishes out with two wins, they’ll clinch the No.1 Seed in the AFC. A win in either this game or next week’s finale against the Bills should clinch the AFC East. If Baltimore wins, they’ll clinch the 1 seed and have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs
New England @ Buffalo
📺️ Broadcast on CBS
💰️ New England is favored by 14, and the O/U is 40.5
📷️ If the Bills lose the next two games, they could be out of the playoffs. If the Bills beat the Pats today, they’ll likely secure a wild card spot. They can win the AFC East if they beat New England today and Miami next weekend.
Atlanta @ Chicago
📺️ Broadcast on CBS
💰️ Chicago is favored by 3 points and the O/U is 38.5
📷️The Falcons need to win this matchup and the next one and then need Tampa Bay to lose two games in order for Atlanta to make the playoffs. The Bears are practically out of the playoffs, but if Chicago wins this and the next, there could be some random scenario where they get a wild card spot
Tennesee @ Houston
📺️ Broadcast on FOX
💰️ Houston is favored by 4 points and the O/U is 43.5
📷️The Texans likely need two wins in a row to get a wild card spot. 1 win over the final two weeks likely won’t get it done. The Titans are eliminated from playoff contention already.
Las Vegas @ Indianapolis
📺️ Broadcast on CBS
💰️ The Colts are favored by 4 points and the O/U is 42.5
📷️ Antonio Pierce has turned this thing around for the Raiders, and a wild card spot is possible if Vegas can win the next two games. Of course, the Colts are trying to make playoffs, and a loss to the Raiders doesn’t eliminate them, but two wins in a row would likely secure the deal. This game is a must-win for both teams.
Carolina @ Jacksonville
📺️ Broadcast on CBS
💰️ Jacksonville is favored by 4 points and the O/U is 36.5
📷️ We know the Panthers are already out of playoff contention, and Jacksonville is teetering on the edge. The Jags lead the AFC South at 8-7, and winning 1 of the next two weeks will likely get them into a playoff spot somehow. Two wins over the next two weeks will get them in. Of course, the Jags are playing two teams who have been eliminated, so the only thing those teams have going for them is the opportunity to ruin someone else’s season.
LA Rams @ NY Giants
📺️ Broadcast on FOX
💰️ The Rams are favored by 6 points and the O/U is 43.5
📷️Unfortunately we can’t see Tommy Cutlets in the playoffs but the Rams in the playoffs? That’s very likely if LA beats NY this weekend. The Rams finish with the 49ers, so two losses in a row would likely keep them out. Of course, if you lose to the Giants, you probably should be banned anyway.
Arizona @ Philadelphia
📺️ Broadcast on FOX
💰️ Philly is favored by 12.5 points at home, and the O/U is 48.5
📷️ The Eagles are already in, and the Cardinals are out. The Eagles can clinch the division with a win this weekend and a win against the Giants next weekend.
New Orleans @ Tampa Bay
📺️ Broadcast on FOX
💰️ The Bucs are favored by 2.5 points and the O/U is 42.5
📷️We have an elimination game in week 17 in the NFC South. If the Bucs win this game, they clinch, and the Saints will be eliminated from the playoffs. Quite frankly, even if the Saints win this week and beat the Falcons next week, it’s still not a lock.
San Francisco @ Washington
📺️ Broadcast on FOX
💰️ The 49ers are favored by 14 points on the road. The O/U is 49.5
📷️ SF is fighting for the 1 seed in the NFC. Two wins in a row will lock it down. A loss today would make that a challenge.
Afternoon Games
Pittsburgh @ Seattle
📺️ Gametime is 4:05 pm on FOX
💰️ Seattle is favored by 4.5 points at home. The O/U is 40.5
📷️The Steelers need to win out to have a shot in the ‘yoffs. Seattle isn’t an easy place to play, and then Pittsburgh finishes their season against the Ravens. The Seahawks might have a chance to get in with a loss today and a win next week, but still, a win two weeks in a row would get them in 100%
LA Chargers @ Denver
📺️ Gametime is 4:25 pm on CBS
💰️ Denver is favored by 3.5 points at home and the O/U is 36.5
📷️The Broncos can get in to the playoffs with a win this weekend and a win against the Raiders next weekend. I’d like to opt out of this game though.
Cincinnati @ Kansas City
📺️ Gametime is 4:25 pm on CBS
💰️ Kansas City is favored by 6.5 points at home. The O/U is 43.5
📷️ The Chiefs need just 1 win in the next two weeks to win the division. Two losses in a row doesn’t eliminate them, either. The Bengals are fighting an uphill battle and likely need two wins in a row to make the wild card
Sunday Night Football
Green Bay @ Minnesota
📺️ Gametime is 8:20 pm on NBC
💰️ Minnesota is favored at home by 1 point. The O/U is 43.5
📷️This is looking like a must-win for the Vikings. Dropping a game in the next weeks really weakens their playoff chances. The same goes for Green Bay. Consider this a playoff game in week 17.
That’s all for today and p.s. the Cowboys should’ve lost that game last night! 🤫
Have a great time with your New Year Celebrations! See you in 2024
