What’s up!

The week flies by when you’re having fun, and somehow, it’s already Wednesday.

There was tons of action on Monday and some great games last night too. Let’s run through some sports and see what’s happening the next few days.

Whiskey: The Tangible Asset for Your Portfolio

Most people fail to diversify their investments.

They invest all their money in intangible assets like stocks, bonds, and crypto.

The solution - fine whiskey.

Whiskey is a tangible asset, providing a unique appeal compared to other investments. Casks of whiskey have measurable attributes like size, age, and weight, making their value indisputable. This physical nature allows for clear identification of issues and adjustments to safeguard future value.

Vinovest’s expertise in managing these tangible assets ensures your whiskey casks are stored and insured to the highest standards, enhancing their worth over time. Discover how this tangible, appreciating asset can enhance your investment portfolio.

Headlines

🥍 On Monday afternoon, Notre Dame started down 2-0 in the College Lacrosse Championship to Maryland, and then Notre Dame steamrolled for 50 straight minutes and won 15-5. That’s back-to-back championships; these are the school's only two lacrosse trophies!

🍀 The Boston Celtics cashed their ticket to the NBA Finals and will have home-court advantage regardless of who they play out of the West. The Celtics defeated the Pacers in game 4 with a 105-102 score, and Boston shut down Indiana with a 7-0 run in the final minutes.

📰 The sports world lost a legend the other day with the passing of Bill Walton. Walton was a hall of famer who won two NBA Championships and 2 NCAA titles with UCLA. He passed on Monday after fighting a battle with cancer. Walton won the NBA’s MVP award in 1977-78 and was a 3-time college player of the year at UCLA. Walton became one of the best NBA announcers after his playing career ended, and he even won an Emmy for his broadcasting talents. RIP.

⚾️ Major League Baseball is doing something that’s going to upset all the old whitey’s out there. Hell yeah, we said it! After a 3-year research project, the MLB has determined that they will add the Negro Leagues records for more than 2,300 players to the record books.

🏀 Jimmy Butler spent a portion of the 2018-2019 NBA season with the Philadelphia 76ers, and it’s being reported that Philly wants to give him the brotherly love and bring him back. Butler has one year left on his contract with Miami, valued at $48.7 million, followed by a $52.4-million player option. He's seeking a two-year extension worth $113 million this offseason, although he would prefer to stay in Miami. The 76ers are also pursuing Paul George.

WE DON’T WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE SUMMER IS ABOUT TO FLY BY BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT THE NFL SEASON IS 100 DAYS OUT? WTF/LFG!

More playoffs

NBA

🏀 The Minnesota Timberwolves weren’t about to become the Minnesota Tumbleweeds and get swept down the street in Dallas. So Minnesota avoided a sweep, but it took everything!

Minnesota played a decent game but this was also an off night for Dallas as they only shot 42% from the floor. A win is a win, especially on the road. Anthony Edwards put up points as expected and he finished with 29. Karl Anthony Towns finally showed up to a playoff game and after terrible game 3 performance, he went 4 for 5 from three last night and finished with 25 points before fouling out.

Luka Doncic finished with 28 for Dallas and the next highest scorer was Kyrie with 16. No need for Dallas to worry about losing this thing in 7 yet, they’ve already shown they can win on Minnesota’s home court.

Stanley Cup Playoffs
Western Conference Finals

🏒 The Dallas Stars have a 2-1 lead in their series against the Edmonton Oilers thanks to Jason Robertson, who had a hat trick in game 3. This is some seriously good hockey, and every goal scored feels like you just hit the lottery because these goalies are ferocious in the net.

We’ve got game 4 tonight in Edmonton, so you’ve got to believe the Oilers won’t be taking another loss at home.

👉️ You guys want to hear something crazy. You can get tickets to game 4 tonight in Edmonton for $260 Canadian dollars. That’s $189 US Dollars. IN THE SECOND LEVEL. Game 5 at MSG would cost you……. $550 minimum, and those are for the 400s.

Eastern Conference Playoffs

🏒 We’re all tied up in the East after another overtime game but this time the Florida Panthers got the win over the New York Rangers. It was another game where the Panthers seemingly dominated the entire game and had the puck on the offensive most of the night. Don’t believe us? Well, explain how Florida is getting 40 shots on goal, and New York only gets 23. It’s all about possessions!

Lucky for New York, these games aren’t resulting in blowouts, thanks to Igor Shesterkin, who continues to play ridiculously well in goal and is only letting up wild goals that you just couldn’t imagine happening.

Although the overtime goal was a pretty sweet one-timer for Florida.

Florida is getting great action from its stars, with goals from Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart last night.

The Rangers haven’t seen much from their top players like Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin, or even Chris Kreider in this series.

We likely have a seven-game series on our hands, and we’re all for it!

Going Up….On a Tuesday

🏀 Caitlin Clark got one of those high-scoring games we finally expected from her but it wasn’t because her long-range jumpers were dropping. Sure, she went 3-10 from the three-point land, but she got to the free throw line 15 times and hit 13 of them. She had a season-high 30 points, but the Indiana Fever still lost to the LA Sparks 88-82.

PGA Tour Heads To Canada

Canada is playing host to hockey and golf this week…. it almost feels like we need a Happy Gilmore 2.

The Canadian Open tees off tomorrow at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario, and there’s a $9.4 million purse at stake.

Not all the top pros are heading north for this one as the U.S. Open is just two weeks away. We’ll still get to see some good golf this weekend, with Rory, Shane Lowry, Sahith Theegala, and Tommy Fleetwood as some top names to tee it up.

Canadian Nick Taylor will also be returning as the Canadian Open champ, where there was an epic finish last year that resulted in fellow Canadian Adam Hadwin being tackled by a security guard as he ran to celebrate with Taylor.

p.s. I really think that the security guard plays football.
