Prescott Implodes In Primetime Pressure
Choose Your Own Path: We're A Little Over 5 Minutes
Good Morning, we hope you enjoyed another weekend of football and all that Sunday had to offer.
Here’s what we seem to know after five weeks.
The 49ers are really freaking good.
The Eagles have all the tools to get the job done.
I think the Jags like England
THE GIANTS STILL STINK
Let’s go through some scores.
NFL Scores and Updates
Sunday Night Football
San Francisco 49ers 42, Dallas Cowboys 10
The 49ers absolutely stomped the Cowboys in the primetime slot. The 49ers defense had 4 sacks and 6 QB pressures that resulted in Dak throwing 3 picks. It didn’t help that Dak rarely had open receivers most of the night. The Cowboys also couldn’t get their run game going as the 49ers were winning the battle at the line of scrimmage. Dallas had 197 total yards of offense compared to the 49ers who had 421. The 49ers split carries, as they normally do, and the backfield ran for 170-yard yards and 2 touchdowns. Brock Purdy added another notch on the relevant belt as he was 17 for 24 for 252 yards. He threw 4 touchdown passes. Again… Purdy completed 17 passes and 4 of them were touchdowns. Every 4th throw was basically a score. Not too bad!
The Rest of Sunday
Jacksonville Jaguars 25, Buffalo Bills 20
The Jags have been in London for two weeks and can head home after grabbing two wins. Trevor Lawrence was 25/37 in the pocket and threw for 315 and 1 TD but Travis Etienne would carry the workload with 26 carries that would pick up 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. Josh Allen would try to complete a comeback for the Bills but would come up short. Allen finished with 359 yards passing, 2 TDs, and 1 INT after completing 27 of 40 throws. The Bills also had a big loss where LB Matt Milano might be out for the entire season with a leg injury.
Atlanta Falcons 21, Houston Texans 19
Rookie CJ Stroud played well for the Texans again but Falcon’s QB Desmond Ridder would lead Atlanta down the field to hit a 37-yard field goal with no time left for the W.
Detroit Lions 42, Carolina Panthers 24
The Detroit Lions are 4-1 and want you to know they are for real. Jared Goff threw 3 TDs and had 236 yards in the air after completing 20 of 28 passes and this was without some of the Lions’ main offensive weapons. RB David Montgomery had some big runs on the day and he would finish with 109 yards and 1 TD on 19 carries.
Indianapolis Colts 23, Tennessee Titans 16
The Colts secured a win after two major things happened. The first was Jonathan Taylor is back on the sidelines after the Colts and Taylor agreed to a 3-year, $42 million extension that includes $26.5 million in guaranteed money. The 2nd thing that happened was their rookie QB left the game with an injured AC joint in his throwing should during the 2nd quarter. The good thing for the Colts is they have a capable backup QB in Gardner Minshew who was able to do just enough to help the Colts pick up a win. The Colts’ defense stepped up big time, slowing down Derrick Henry and holding him to only 43 yards on 13 carries.
Miami Dolphins 31, NY Giants 16
Miami dominated the Giants yesterday. Tua did throw 2 INTs with one resulting as a pick 6. He also threw 2 TDs and went for 308 yards in the air. De’Von Achane had 11 carries for 151 yards and 1 TD and Tyreek Hill had 8 catches for 181 yards and 1 TD. This Dolphins offense is still scary even after a bad day last weekend. The Giants’ woes continued as Daniel Jones left the game in the 4th quarter with a neck injury. He was 14 for 20 and had 119 passing yards.
New Orleans Saints 34, New England Patriots 0
Things are getting worse for the Patriots after Bill Belichick suffered the worst loss of his career just one week after suffering the worst loss of his career. Mac Jones is not getting the job done from the New England pocket as he threw another pick 6 this week. New England has been outscored 72-3 in the last two weeks. Derek Carr ended up playing for the Saints and was 18 for 26 with 183 passing yards and 2 TDs(I guess his shoulder is feeling good)
Pittsburgh Steelers 17, Baltimore Ravens 10
The Steelers grabbed a big win after the Ravens’ offense started to slowly fall apart. The Ravens had numerous drops(10 to be exact) and weren’t clicking very well after getting a quick 10-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. It really fell apart when Lamar Jackson threw an INT with the score tied and the Ravens were knocking on the endzone’s door with 4 minutes to go in the game. The Steelers would score on the next drive and that would be the difference.
Philadelphia Eagles 23, LA Rams 14
The Eagles got to 5-0 after blanking the Rams in the 2nd half of yesterday’s game. The Eagles would go into halftime up 17-14 and would kick two field goals in the 2nd half, but it was enough. The Eagles would finish with 303 yards in the air and 159 on the ground. The good news for the Rams was Cooper Kupp returned to the sidelines and had a good first game for the season. He caught 8 passes for 118 yards. the Kupp and Nacua duo seems like it will be a tough one to guard the rest of the year.
Cincinnati Bengals 34, Arizona Cardinals 20
The Bengals’ offense started to look normal again after a big day in Arizona. Ja’Marr Chase is indeed “always effing open” as he caught 15 passes for 192 yards and 3 TDs. The Bengals are improving this year and are now 2-3 after a rough start to the season.
NY Jets 31, Denver Broncos 21
Breece Hall was the star of the show after rushing for 177 yards and 1 TD for the Jets. Russell Wilson was not the star of the show after fumbling the ball with 41 seconds to go in the game and the Jets recovered for a scoop and score touchdown. The Jets are 2-3 and are trying to hold on for their dear lives.
KC Chiefs 27, Minnesota Vikings 20
The Chiefs are 4-1 and are finding ways to win. TE Travis Kelce had a scare after rolling an ankle but would return to the game and scored a TD. QB Patrick Mahomes would go 31 for 41 and throw for 281 yards and 2 TDs. Kirk Cousins attempted to lead the Vikings to a comeback but couldn’t get the job done with his star receiver, Justin Jefferson sitting on the sideline with a hamstring injury. Cousins would finish 29 of 47, with 284 passing yards and 2TDs.
Monday Night Football
We’ve got a Monday Night Football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Las Vegas Raiders in Las Vegas. Gametime is 8:15 pm ET and will be on ESPN.
That’s a lengthy roundup of Sunday’s games. Let’s end it there so you can get a 2nd cup of coffee and delay responding to emails.
Have a day!
