Easter Conference Final Preview
The Milwaukee Bucks currently sit atop the Eastern Conference in the NBA and the Boston Celtics are a close 2nd being only 2 games behind. We’ve got 5 games to go in the regular season and the Celts could surpass the Bucks in the standings.
Last night the Celtics traveled to Milwaukee to face the Bucks. We don’t know much about hunting here, but we’re led to believe getting yourself a 16 point buck is about the best you could hope for when you’re in the woods. Well, the Celtics came out and bagged a 40 pointer and they weren’t wearing camo.
Jayson Tatum scored 40 points and Jaylen Brown put up 30 in a 140-99 dominant win. The Celtics shot just over 50% from 3 point land, hitting 22 of 43 shots from deep. Last nights win gave the Celtics the edge in the regular season series as they are now 2-1 against the Bucks. Getting the 1 seed could be crucial for both teams as last years Eastern Conference Finals came down to game 7 between these two teams, with the Celtics winning and making the NBA finals.
Of course, both of these teams still need to win 2 playoff series to get to the conference finals but we don’t see any teams besting either in a 7 game series.
Old Timers Leading The Pack on Tour
Two old timers, or as some might say, veterans, are sharing the lead at the Valero Texas Open after the first round. We’re being a bit facetious about the age but 51 year old Padraig Harrington and 44 year old Matt Kuchar both shot 68 to lead the pack at -4. We’ve got 3 rounds to go but if one these guys can hold on, they’ll earn an invite to next weeks Masters Tournament.
First To Clinch In The NHL West
Well there’s one thing we know about Las Vegas… if you stick around long enough you’re going to lose. And that’s the beautiful thing about Sin City, even when you lose you still win. Introducing exhibit A.
The Vegas Golden Knights lost 4-3 in a matchup against the San Jose Sharks last night and they still clinched the first playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Golden Knights secured their bid for the Stanley Cup Playoffs when the Nashville Predators lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in regulation. We’ll see who falls in line behind Vegas over the next 2 weeks.
Opening Day News
All 30 MLB teams took the field on Thursday and we had some great play all around. Here are a few takeaways.
LA Angels vs Oakland Athletic Athletics
Shohei Ohtani led off the season with a remarkable performance, but it wasn’t enough. Ohtani threw 6 shutout innings for the LA Angels, had 10 strikeouts and only gave up 2 hits. The Angels could only get one run up on the board and the Oakland Athletics brought in 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th and that was enough to take the W after closing out the game in the top of the 9th.
Hunter Renfroe, outfielder for the Angels did have an oddly nasty catch in the outfield though.

Houston Astros vs Chicago White Sox
The Astros celebrated their 2022 World Series Championship last night and that was the only thing that went as planned. Dylan Cease, pitcher for the White Sox, had a great performance striking out 10 during 6 innings pitched and gave up 1 run. The White Sox bats got hot against the Astros relievers and 3 runs were scored in the last two innings to give Chicago the 3-2 win.
NY Yankees vs. SF Giants
Aaron Judge began this year right where he left off last. Judge, who hit 62 homers last year, went deep in his first at bat of the season. The Yankees took the win by shutting out the Giants 5-0.

Mets Can’t Catch A Break
The NY Mets spent a ton of money signing big names in the offseason. One of those names was pitcher Justin Verlander. Before the Mets’ opener, it was announced Verlander was put on the injured list with a teres major strain. He’ll be evaluated in a week.
The Mets did win their opener vs Miami 5-3.
That’s all for today. Have a Happy Friday and even happier Happy Hour!
Cheers
