Primetime In Dallas

plus Saturday's Scores & Sunday's Headliner

Good Morning and Happy Sunday, but basically Saturday x’2 of the Labor Day Weekend. We had a great week 1 of College Football, but it ain’t over yet. There’s other action in sportslandia too, we’ll cover a bit of everything today.

College Football Scoreboard

Top 25

The biggest surprise of week 1 so far is the upset of last year’s National Championship runner-up, TCU. The Colorado Buffalo gored the TCU defense on a sunny Saturday in Dallas, TX. Just 9 months after Deion Sander aka Coach Prime took over the program and basically told current Colorado players if they weren’t ready then leave(many of them did) because he had his guys coming in to play. Deion professed some and then professed some more. For week 1, his professions were accurate. He said “We Coming” and the Buffs showed up.

#14 TCU 42

Colorado 45

  • Deion’s son, QB Shedeur Sanders threw for a record 510 yards and tossed 4 touchdowns.

  • The Colorado defense will need some work on the rushing attack as they gave up 262 yards on the ground.

  • Travis Hunter was the star of the show though, playing both sides of the ball. He had 11 receptions for 119 yards and had an INT on defense

  • It wasn’t all bad for TCU, their offense still shined and they have a very capable run game. It’s hard to be mad when you score 42 as an offense. Clean up some defense and you’ll be right back in the mix of the Big 12.

#15 Oregon 81

Portland State 7

  • Oregon became the first team to drop 80 points in an FBS game since 2015 when UNLV put 80 up on Idaho State

  • Bo Nix went 23/27 for the Ducks and threw for 287 yards and 3 TDs

  • Oregon had video game-like stats, passing for 381 and 4 TDs, rushing for 348 yards and 7 TDs

  • A few surprises: Oregon had zero INTs or sacks and they even punted once.

#21 North Carolina 31

South Carolina 17

  • In a battle of two talented QBs, Drake Maye put together some impressive throws for UNC, going 24-32 for 269 yards and TDs. Maye unfortunately threw 2 picks as well.

  • South Carolina star Spencer Rattler had a well-played game, going 30-39 for 353 but he didn’t throw for any TDs in the game. The Carolina defense created pressure during crunch time and had 9 sacks.

#3 Ohio State 23

Indiana 3

  • Ohio State opened the season with Big 10 play and had a sluggish start. The Buckeyes would head into halftime only up 7 points with a 10-3 lead. They would score 13 in the shutout Indiana in the 2nd half.

  • Marvin Harrison Jr. would only have 2 catches for 18 yards for Ohio State. He’s never been held to two catches in his college career

There were a number of other blowout scores. Check them out here.

Formula 1

Formula 1 is in action this weekend with the Italian Grand Prix. This weekend’s race takes place just North of Milan at the Monza Circuit. Carlos Sainz gets the pole position today and Max Verstappen will start in the 2nd position but well all know that doesn’t really matter with Verstappen.
