Quarterback Reset

Today's Estimated Reading Time: 2 Minutes and 45 Seconds

Happy College Football Saturday. The matchups are light but we’re working in some conference play and that always draws up some action. So maybe things won’t be so quiet this weekend?

We’ve also got College Gameday in Boulder, CO for the instate rivalry matchup between the University of Colorado and Colorado State. You might expect to see some boulders out there, but you’ll actually see a Rock.

That’s right, The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson will be the guest picker for today so tune in to ESPN from 9-Noon ET while you're having your breakfast and coffee.

Let’s jump right into some football news, starting with Quarterbacks.

Quarterback Reset

Ohio State

The #6 Ohio State Buckeyes are off to a 2-0 start but their offense has looked lackluster in their opening weeks. Even so, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day feels comfortable in naming Kyle McCord the starter for the rest of the season. Day mentioned McCord's consistency as his special trait. The fact that McCord is managing games and not making bad plays worse was part of this decision to allow McCord to move forward as the starter.

Alabama

Alabama plans to start Tyler Buchner as quarterback in their upcoming game against USF, replacing Jalen Milroe. This decision comes after Milroe's struggles in the previous game against Texas, where he threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns but also had two interceptions and a low completion rate. Buchner, who previously played under Alabama's offensive coordinator Tommy Rees at Notre Dame, took most of the first-team reps in practice this week.

Games To Look Out For Today

Colorado State @ #18 Colorado, 10 pm ET on ESPN

Can Coach Prime keep the Buffaloes rolling in Boulder this weekend? I’m sure The CSU Rams won’t be causing chaos in the Rocky Mountain Showdown but if you’re a bettor, this might not be such an easy game to pick. Colorado State is getting 23.5 points and the O/U is set for 62.5 pts.

I might stay away from the spread and just take the over.

#8 Washington @ Michigan State, 5 pm ET on Peacock

This game is drawing a lot of attention as Washington was originally 13 point favorite. With Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker not being available due to an investigation from the school, the line has moved 16.5 points in favor of the #8 team in the nation. O/U is 57.5. I’m not making a pick on this game.

#11 Tennessee at University of Florida, 7 pm ET on ESPN

This game originally opened with Tennessee being just 4-point favorites but the line is at 6.5. I haven’t been super impressed with Florida and Tennessee didn’t have a spectacular showing against Austin Peay last week but I’m going to take Tennesse -6.5. The O/U is 58.5.
