Receivers Still Fear Deion Sanders

and USC is padding their roster

Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 5 minutes and 40 seconds

Happy Monday. This is the Daily Breakroom and we’re here to deliver you updates in less than 5 minutes.

Here’s what we got today:

  • College Football Transfer Updates

  • NBA Scores and Matchups

  • Stanley Cup Playoff Updates

Let’s get this Monday started.

NCAA Football

Transfer rules have changed drastically in college sports. A few years ago, when you signed a letter of intent to play athletics at a university, you were practically locked in for 4 years. Wanted to change your scene? Maybe your coach left and you wanted to follow him or didn’t want to play for the next coach…. Too bad! You were stuck. There were two ways out. Change schools and sit out for a year or wait until you were eligible for graduate school and switch. These weren’t really feasible if you weren’t a senior.

The NCAA revamped their transfer rules in 2018 and now players have windows where they can transfer based on some rules. A player can basically get one free transfer in their undergrad time and one free transfer for graduate school. You can use this if you’re unhappy with playing time or you decide to stick with your coach who just signed a sick deal in the SEC.

So why are we telling you this? Well, we’re in the middle of the transfer portal window for college football and schools are just finishing up with their spring practice games and we’ve got some transfer news.

Deion Still Scaring Receivers

The University of Colorado at Boulder hired Deion Sanders after Deion brought life back into the Jackson State program for 3 years.

Receivers feared Deion when he was at Florida State and in the NFL and apparently that hasn’t changed.

Montana Lemonious-Craig, Colorado’s #1 WR, who coincidentally wears the number 1 on his has entered the transfer portal and is looking to leave UC Boulder. He had an awesome spring game on Saturday with 6 catches for 169 yards and a TD.

Deion is losing another WR, Chase Sowell, and a four star CB has decommitted from the program.

Deion came into his first team meeting with some harsh words for the current Colorado players, telling them that things would be different and if they can’t handle the competition then they should transfer.

The Lemonious-Craig transfer comes as a big surprise as he developed a great rapport with the coaching staff and his QB, Shadeur Sanders, who is also Deion’s son.

Someone Wants More Primetime

While players run away from Deion Sanders, other players run toward the primetime spotlight.

Georgia defensive lineman, Bear Alexander, entered the transfer portal and has now committed to the USC Trojans. This is a big addition to their defense as they already have a stout offense, but the D was a bit weak last year.

Alexander was the No. 5 DT in the country for 2022 recruiting class. He played 163 snaps as true freshman at Georgia and recorded 9 tackles, three tackles for a loss, and two sacks. USC is the premier football team to watch in LA and Alexander will be getting his share of the spotlight.

Watch out PAC-12.

Working Overtime

The crew at the Crypto.com Arena hopefully got paid overtime this weekend. They had to change the playing surface 5 times in 3 days as the the LA Clippers, LA Lakers, and LA Kings all had multiple home games during the NBA and NHL playoffs. Check out the time lapse here.

We went a little long today, but thanks for sticking around for the read. Have a great start to your week.
