Good Morning and Happy Friday. We made it to the weekend, so you can kick back and watch some swings. Baseball, lacrosse, or golf. Take your pick because there is a lot of action going on.

Here’s what we got today:

  • Record-Breaking Day In Golf

  • US Men’s Soccer Has Convincing Win

  • Ohtani Helps Angels Get Another Win

  • Antonio Brown Back In The News?

  • A Cycling Scandal

  • Conor McGregor In Hot Water Again

Let’s go.

US Open

It was a record-breaking day for the US Open’s opening round at LACC. Since 1895 there have been zero rounds with a score of 62 in the US Open. Rickie Fowler came in at 62 after a great round and then you wouldn’t believe it… 22 minutes later Xander Schauffele would do the same thing. We should mention that Rick did this with two bogies on the scorecard, which makes it more impressive.

They weren’t the only ones with great rounds yesterday. Wyndham Clark and Dustin Johnson would come in 6 under at 64 and Brian Harman and Rory McIlroy would come in at 5 under at 65.

We also had a few aces during the opening round.

Matthieu Pavon had a hole-in-one on 15.

A few hours later Sam Burns hit an ace on 15.

We’ll see if Rickie and Xander can keep their lead today. Conditions should be a bit more difficult as the winds are expected to be more present today and the pins will be in some more challenging areas.

The first tee times go off at 9:45 am ET. Make sure to tune into the Peacock app or watch on the USA channel from 1-8 pm ET and then 8-11 pm on NBC.

CONCACAF

The United States Men’s National Soccer Team defeated Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal 3-0 last night. Christian Pulisic shined with 2 goals and substitute Ricardo Pepi scored the 3rd goal for the US. This was a hectic game in Las Vegas and both teams were handed two red cards during the match. The game was so wild the refs blew the whistle short in stoppage time because the Mexico fans were performing their anti-gay slur chant which is part of the cheering ritual. What might be a little more hectic for the US is this win came after the news that Greg Berhalter will be returning as the coach of the USMNT.

In the other semifinal matchup, Canada defeated Panama 2-0. The US and Canada will face off in the final on Sunday.

Angels Defeat Rangers w/ Help From Ohtani

The Los Angeles Angels (The Angels Angeles for those who don’t speak Spanish) defeated the AL West first-place Texas Rangers on Thursday night and it was with a lot of help from Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani made an odd comment a few days ago saying he was feeling a bit tired. The Angels were going to try to manage his pitching and plate appearances as a batter. Well, Ohtani must’ve gotten a few good nights of sleep because he threw six good innings last night and also had a 2 run home run blast that went 443 feet. With that homer, Ohtani has tied Pete Alonso with a league-leading 22 home runs this season.

Antonio Brown Back In The News?

Antonio Brown is back in the news after the National Arena League Football team he owned, the Albany Empire, has been kicked out of the league. It’s been nothing but scandal since Brown took the helm as the owner.

Here’s how it went down

Brown bought the team in April.

He goes on some pressers claiming he’s going to bring Albany, NY back and that he’s good for business

In April Brown paid a mandatory league fee

He didn’t pay the fee in May and then also fought the April fee.

He was then fined for not paying the May fee, which he then didn’t pay the fee or the fine.

The league gave Brown until noon on Thursday to pay and he didn’t come through with the money.

That’s not even all of it.

Since Brown took over, the team is 1-6, they’ve released two QBs, hired 4 head coaches, players weren’t paid for a few weeks and Brown suited up for practice saying he was going to play, people bought tickets to attend, and then he suddenly didn’t pass his physical.
