REGGIE BUSH GOT THE HEISMAN BACK!!!!
+ playoffs
Big freaking news on a Wednesday, people!
Reggie Bush is getting the Heisman Trophy back!
Yup… the Heisman Trust announced today that there will be a formal “reinstatement” of the trophy to Bush since there have been enormous changes in the college football landscape, aka everyone is getting paid.
Bush received improper benefits during his time at USC, and USC suffered significant NCAA sanctions due to the violations. Bush had to forfeit his Heisman Trophy in 2010, and all I can say is this is freaking awesome because
REGGIE BUSH WAS ELECTRIC.
Now, here are some highlights…
Since we’re talking football, here’s some extra news
🏈The Chiefs have extended HC Andy Reid’s contract. He’s now the highest-paid coach and is signed through 2029, so Mahomes will get at least two more Super Bowls if not more.
🏈The NY Jets traded Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos will receive a 7th-round pick and the QB in exchange for a 6th-rounder from this year’s draft. I’m not sure WTF the Broncos are doing.
🏈The Broncos did something right, they exercised Pat Surtain’s fifth year option. It’s great that they’re keeping Surtain around, but they might want to focus more on QB rather than a CB.
🏈The Giants are potentially looking to move up in the draft to get Drake Maye. The Broncos are also considering moving down in the draft, and the Patriots are open to moving out of the 3rd draft spot if the trades make sense.
Now onto playoffs.
NBA
🏀 The Phoenix Suns experiment is slowly failing after they go down 0-2 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. They lost 105-93, and maybe, just maybe, Kevin Durant ain’t the winner we thought he was! The Suns can’t beat the T-Wolves when KD is at his best like in game 1, D-Book is still not shooting great, and Grayson Allen went out with an ankle injury last night. Winning 4 of the next 5 is going to be a tall ask for the Suns.
🏀 The Indiana Pacers evened the series 1-1 with the Milwaukee Bucks after they showcased their point-scoring ability last night. The Pacers won 125-108, and even though Damian Lillard had another great first half, it was enough to hold off Pascal Siakam, who finished with 37 points. And get this: Siakam only had three free-throw attempts and was 3 for 4 from three-point land. That’s right, 26 of his points were from three-point land. The Bucks really need Giannis back, or things could get out of hand in Indianapolis.
🏀 The Mavs get redemption after a terrible game 1 against the LA Clippers. Kawhi Leonard was back in the lineup for the Clips, but he looked a little rusty and only added 15 points. Both Paul George and James Harden scored 22 points, but it was Luka Doncic who was the man of the hour. He had 32 points for Dallas, which got the 96-93 win in the low-scoring affair.
Game 2’s tonight
🏀 We’re back in Boston, where the Celtics have a 1-0 lead over the Heat. The Heat will still be without Jimmy Butler, and the Celtics are firing on all cylinders
📺️ Gametime is 7 pm ET on TNT, and the Celtics are favored by 14.5 points.
🏀 The OKC Thunder are hosting the Pelicans in game 2 after OKC just narrowly escaped with a win in game 1.
📺️ Gametime is 9:30 pm ET on TNT and the Thunder are favored by 7.5
NHL
🏒 We had great hockey in New York last night, and MSG was bumping. It was a physical game between the Rangers and the Washington Capitals and things are going to get ugly eventually in one of the next games. Rangers win 4-3 in a game where there was 11 total penalties
🏒 In the Sunshine State rivalry, the Florida Panthers take a 2-0 lead in the series after beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in OT. Carter Verhaege scored the game-winner, but the real game-winner was this save from Sergei Bobrovsky.

🏒 The Colorado Avalanche evened out the series 1-1 against the Winnipeg Jets before game 3 heads to Denver. Winnipeg got off to a quick lead, scoring in the first four minutes of the game, but it was a four-goal second period that secured it for the Avalanche. Three of the goals came in the last six minutes of the period. That’s the definition of an Avalanche, right?
🏒 Quick goals have to be disheartening. The Nashville Preds scored just 74 seconds into their game 2 matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. Before the Canucks could even score late in the 2nd period, they were down 3-0. Sometimes things just don’t go your way, and it wasn’t because the Canucks weren’t trying. They had lots of shots but just couldn’t get the puck to the back of the net. No time to worry for Vancouver yet.
More Game 2’s Tonight + A Game 3
🏒 The Maple Leafs did the necessary the other night when they stole a win in Boston. The series is tied 1-1 and game 3 is in Toronto tonight.
📺️ Gametime is 7 pm ET on ESPN.
🏒 We’ve got game two in a series where the Vegas Golden Knights have stolen a win against one of the best teams in the NHL, the Dallas Stars. Will Dallas win at home tonight, or will they hit the road down 2-0?
📺️ Gametime is 9:30 pm ET on ESPN
🏒 The Edmonton Oilers are up 1-0 in their series against the LA Kings, and they host game 2 tonight.
📺️ Gametime is 10 pm ET on TBS
