Rickie Is Back

We asked you all if you thought Rickie Fowler was back in April and the answer was pretty much a yes. Fowler has been in the mix on Sundays at some of the biggest tournaments this year but he hasn’t been able to finish on top.

Fowler had to make a big shot on 18 yesterday and birdie the hole to get himself into the playoff against Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin, which he did. He would then birdie the first playoff hole to get the win which would end his 4-year drought.

USMNT Beats Up On Trinidad & Tobago

The United States men's national soccer team displayed dominance in the Gold Cup Group A matchup with a convincing 6-0 victory against Trinidad and Tobago.

Striker Jesus Ferreira stood out as a key player, scoring a hat trick and making this back-to-back hat tricks after scoring 3 goals against Saint Kitts and Nevis just a few days ago.

The U.S. team will now proceed to the knockout stage, facing the runner-up from Group D in Cincinnati on July 9.

MLB

The MLB All-Star game is set for next weekend in Seattle and the full rosters were released yesterday. Check them out to see if your favorite player got snubbed.

We have a fully loaded schedule for All-Star weekend, so there will be no shortage of action.

July 8: MLB All-Star Futures Game at 7 p.m. MLB Network

July 8: All-Star Celebrity Softball Game following Futures Game

July 10: MLB Home Run Derby at 8 p.m. on ESPN

July 11: MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show at 2 p.m. on MLB Network

July 11: MLB All-Star Game at 8 p.m. on FOX

The players don’t actually get a break until Monday, July 10 so we’ll have baseball all week before we get to the end of the first half of the season.

We’ve got two games on today for those who have a rainy day off from work and are looking for something to watch.

The Chicago Cubs are visiting Milwaukee Brewers at 2:10 pm ET and it’s streaming on ESPN+

The San Diego Padres are hosting the LA Angels at 9:40 pm ET on FS1.

NBA Signings and Summer League

The Phoenix Suns don’t have a ton of cap space to sign free agents this offseason but they did just sign Eric Gordon to a two-year deal for $6 million. He might not be the biggest name out there on the market but multiple teams were bidding and the Suns got him at a favorable price. He should be a nice addition to stretch the court a bit.

NBA Summer League

Summer league tips of today in the NBA with the California Classic and the Salt Lake City League both hosting games today.

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs will face Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets tonight at 8 pm ET on ESPN. It’s not clear if Wemby, the #1 pick in this year’s draft will be playing for the Spurs tonight. The Spurs and Hornets tip off at 8:00 pm ET and the game will be on ESPN2.

In Salt Lake City, the Utah Jazz will showcase their three first-round picks. Oklahoma City will have another shot at showing off Chet Holmgren who was the 2022 #2 pick but had to sit out the entire season with an ankle injury. the Jazz and Thunder face off tonight at 9:00 pm ET but the game is only on NBA TV.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon singles serve up the first matches on the courts today. Here are a few things we already know.

Novak Djokovic, the reigning Wimbledon champ already won his first match in straight sets.

Australian Nick Kyrgios, who lost in last year’s final, had to withdraw as he’s dealing with a new wrist injury. He was just returning after missing most of 2023 with a knee injury.

American Jessica Pegula defeated fellow American Lauren Davis in a first-round test. Pegula is the 4th ranked woman in the world.
