Ruff day the office + Releases & Retirements
The week has barely begun, and it’s already heating up in a “Devilish” way. A coach was fired, so was a god-loving Russell Wilson, and the NFL retired the “Tush Push”.
Let’s see what’s going on.
NJ Devils Fire Coach
The Devils have fired head coach Lindy Ruff and named Travis Green the interim head coach for the rest of the season. Ruff was in the middle of his 4th season but only led the Devils to one postseason, where they beat the Rangers in the first round of last year’s playoff but then lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2nd round. The Devils had high expectations this season, and with basically ¾ of the season having already been played and the Devils are 8 points out of a playoff spot, it was time for a change.
Travis Green, who is taking over for the rest of the season, has held a head coach position before when he was the bench boss for the Vancouver Canucks form 2017-2021.
BRONCO COUNTRY, LET’S RIDE!
LET’S RIDE RIGHT ON OUT OF TOWN!
That’s right, Russell Wilson is finally being let loose, he’s free to roam around the wild west because the Broncos have informed him that he’ll be released when free agency opens up.
This will cost the Broncos a decent amount of money, right? As Wisconsinites might say, YOU BETCHA!
The Broncos will carry $85 million in dead money over the next two years but in actuality, will only have to pay Russ $39 million for this year.
The Tush Push Is Retired!
Well, really, but not really, but actually kind of.
Jason Kelce, the frontman for the tush push, has retired from the NFL after 13 seasons.

Let’s bring the tush push back to front and center. We all know Kelce provide the initial push for the brotherly shove, but what Jalen Hurts is still a strong, athletic dude, albeit he might be a very average QB 😉 .
So what do you think, is the tush push dead now that Jason Kelce has retired? |
The Steelers Stay Committed To Being Average
Kirk Cousins
Baker Mayfield
Justin Fields
Russell Wilson (lol)

You guessed it!
It’s Kenny Pickett who will remain at the top of the depth chart, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Pickett will apparently face tough competition in the summer, although I’m not sure what that means.
I’m not saying any of the QBs we mentioned at the top would automatically make this team a Super Bowl winning squad, but anything has to be better than Kenny Pickett, right?
Mike Evans Ain’t Goin Nowhere
Big dawg Mike Evans will be catching passes in Tampa Bay for another two years. Evans and his current team have agreed on a 2-year, $52 million deal with $35 million guaranteed.
The question that now needs to be answered if who will be throwing passes to the receiver? The Bucs are trying to resign Baker Mayfield, but after he had a pretty decent first year in Tampa, Mayfield isn’t looking to take a team-friendly discount.
