Let’s do this.

Colts Give Taylor OK To Seek Trade

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has been permitted to seek a trade to another team, but the Colts want to receive a first-round pick or an equivalent trade package.

Let’s discuss this saga. It pretty much went down like this.

Runningbacks were a bit disgruntled this offseason as no one signed Zeke or Dalvin Cook yet and Saquon Barkley was going through his franchise tag fiasco.

RBs had a Zoom call to discuss their compensation woes.

Taylor was one of those players on the call. He is also one of the best RBs in the league.

About a week after the Zoom call, someone released info saying Taylor had back pain and wouldn’t pass his physical. The only problem is that Taylor never reported back pain and doesn’t have any back pain

Okay, so you’re pretty much up to date at this point, except for the part where Taylor asked for a trade.

Colts owner Jim Irsay said he wouldn’t trade Taylor but he also wasn’t going to give him a new contract right now either.

Well, fast forward 3 weeks to today, and all that has seemed to change.

The Colts have permitted Taylor to get a trade but there’s one problem with all of this.

If Colts owner Jim Irsay doesn’t believe RBs are worth anything…..then why does he expect to receive first-round compensation for an RB?

I think you’re crazy if you don’t think a top 3 RB is valuable, but I also think you’re crazy if you think you should pay them $50 million over 4 years. It’s too much money and the RBs are going to miss games over that time span, it’s inevitable.

Here’s my take

Good runningbacks are like toppings to a pizza. Think of your O-line as the crust, your QB as the sauce, and your receivers as the cheese. Take care of all those things and you’re going to have a pretty good offense… or a pretty good pizza. If you have some money left over for some awesome toppings..aka a dope RB.. then you’re going to have an excellent pizza. But without good crust, sauce, or cheese, the toppings might cover up some of the bad taste, but you’re not winning any awards out there. A great O-line can carry a decent running back but a great running back is not going to carry a bad O-line…it’s that simple.

Ravens Have 24-Game Preseason Win Streak Snapped

The Washington Commanders hit a 49-yard field goal with 9 seconds to go in yesterday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. This put the Commanders up 29-28 and snapped the Ravens’ long preseason win streak.

While having a preseason win streak is a pretty dumb record to hold it’s pretty fun to see Commanders players have some fun celebrating an exhibition win.

Michigan Self-Imposes Penalty

Michigan has decided to suspend Jim Harbaugh for 3 games after he committed some NCAA recruiting infractions during a pandemic recruiting freeze. The decision comes as the University has been trying to work with the NCAA but the NCAA hasn’t agreed to any suspensions yet.

Michigan is trying to get ahead of any further punishments and avoid losing Harbaugh to a full season due to the violations.

USA Star Shines In Debut

USA soccer star Christian Pulisic shined in his debut for AC Milan as he scored one goal in a 2-0 Serie A win over Bologna yesterday.

Pulisic set up Olivier Giroud’s initial goal with an awesome pass and then Giroud would return the favor, setting up Pulisic for his goal. Check it out.

Sha’Carri Richardson Is Fast

Sha’Carri Richardson has had a wild ride as a USA athlete. Two years ago she faced a ban after failing a drug test for marijuana, which no one in the US cared about, but its use was still not allowed under Olympic policies.

Well, Richardson has made it back to the track and has been running phenomenally for the US Track and Field Team. Yesterday at Worlds, she just narrowly defeated the Jamaicans in the Women’s 100m World Final after running a 10.65 100m dash.

If you’re thinking you could still beat her in a race…stop… She would dust you in a race. Trust me… to run the 100-meter race in 10.65 seconds you’d need to have your 40 time down to about 4.44 seconds. GOOD LUCK

New York Knicks Suing Former Employee

The New York Knicks have filed a lawsuit against the Toronto Raptors, accusing a former Knicks employee of sharing proprietary information with the Raptors after joining their organization. The lawsuit alleges that the former employee provided Toronto with confidential files, including play frequency reports, scouting files, opponent research, and other coaching materials for the 2022-2023 season. The Knicks claim that the Raptors conspired to use the employee’s insider position to benefit their coaching and video operations staff after the Raptors offered the employee a role in the summer of 2022. The Raptors’ ownership group denies any involvement in a scheme of the sort.

I can’t imagine that this isn’t happening everywhere. We all have some files on a google drive or sent something through Gmail and you expect a top sports franchise to not have an employee bring over some info? What exactly happens when a head coach gets hired, or an assistant joins a new staff? Do they have the Men In Black come and do the memory reset thing?

That’s all for today. See you tomorrow!
