Saturday Rapid Fire

Today's Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes and 22 seconds

Good Morning from the Daily Breakroom. We’ve got warm weather across the nation and with the temps heating up, there’s no better time for some rapid fire.

Let’s Party Dudes.

Joe Mixon Returns To The Bengals

Joe Mixon and the Bengals have agreed to a restructured contract to keep Mixon in Cincinnati for another season. Mixon had a great 2021 season but regressed in 2022, making it hard to keep him around for 2023 as a major hit against the salary cap.

Catch And Release A Coyote

Alex Galchenyuk was released by the Arizona Coyotes yesterday after he was arrested on hit-and-run and resisting arrest charges. He also is under fire for throwing racial slurs at the arresting officers. The Coyotes wasted no time cutting the Center after he breached his contract.

A No-No In Knoxville

The NCAA has laid down the law on the University of Tennessee. The football program was found to have over 200 infractions that occurred when former coach Jeremy Pruitt was at the helm. Pruitt won’t be able to coach for 6 years at another school unless is hiring is approved by the NCAA.

Tennessee will have to pay $8 million in fines and then some more as settlements for other things, like playing in a bowl game that the program was paid for but technically was ineligible for because of the violations. Get more info here.

Ohtani? More like NOhtani

The Los Angeles Angels are open to receiving trade requests for Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is a 2-way superstar and his contract is up at the end of the season. It’s likely that he will sign with another team next year and it would be silly for the Angels to get zero assets and to just let Ohtani walk at the end of his contract.

Things Just Got Tougher In East Rutherford

The New York Jets were selected as the team that will be followed by HBO crews for the show Hard Knocks.

Guess who’s not happy about it ??

You said Aaron Rodgers?

What. A. Guess.

You can’t really blame him though. No Hard Knocks team has ever won the Super Bowl and less than 50% of the teams on the show have made playoffs that same year.

Nothing is better than a Hard Knocks season when the team has a swaggy defense so we’ll definitely be looking forward to this season and the inevitable Jets demise.

PROVE US WRONG NEW YORK JETS

PGA Tour

What did we say yesterday about the Genesis Scottish Open? It could be anyone's tournament if they go low on Saturday. That’s exactly what Rory and Tyrell Hatton did. Now Rory leads and Hatton is tied in 2nd with the first-round leader, An Byeong-hun.

Your best bet is to stream the action from the ESPN+ app today.

Wimbledon Final

We’ll talk more about this tomorrow but please listen to me. Novak Djokovic is playing Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon Final tomorrow. Please Please Please watch this. There is absolutely nothing better than watching top tennis players, in this case, No 2. vs No 1 in the world., when you are having a coffee and hopefully pancakes.

The Women’s Final is at 9 am ET on ESPN today, I’d recommend watching these highly skilled women also.

Fun and Fun x 2

Sabrina Ionescu

Sabrina Ionescu was more drippy than a 4 year old’s ice cream cone in 100-degree weather. Ionescu was taking part in the 3-point shooting competition during the WNBA All-Star weekend. She only missed two shots in one of the rounds. INSANE

and yes she won the competition and also set a record.

Bo and Josh Naylor

The Naylor bros were nailing home runs in last night’s MLB game. Here’s the scoop. The Naylors play for the Cleveland Guardians and are the first brothers in a decade to each hit a home run in the same inning. They both hit 2 run dingers in the third inning against the Texas Rangers.

That’s all for today. If you enjoyed this, your friends probably will too.
