Saturdays With The Bros
+ More Eliminations
Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes and 12 seconds
Good Morning. We hope your Sunday brunch rezzies are set and your flowers are ordered for Mother’s Day.
Let’s start with a poll and a spoiler.
Now that Steph Curry and Golden State are eliminated from playoffs, what will he be doing Sunday? |
Here’s what we got today:
🏀 NBA Scores and Schedule ☹️
🏒 Stanley Cup Playoffs
🏈 XFL Championship
🥍 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament Begins
NBA Scores
Friday Night Scores
Heat win series 4-2, will play the winner of Boston vs. Philly
New York Knicks 92
Miami Heat 96
The New York Knicks grabbed a 14-point lead in the first quarter, and it looked like we’d have a game 7. That deficit was quickly erased in the first 4 minutes of the 2nd quarter.
Lead changes were traded back and forth until Miami could grab a 7-point lead in the 3rd and New York was playing catchup as best they could
The Knicks would get it within 1 in the fourth but then Miami would pull away again, getting their largest lead of the game by 9
When the Knicks were down they couldn’t get the offense rolling as most of the production was coming from Jalen Brunson, who scored 41 points and shot over 60%. The Heat could easily double Brunson and there wasn’t much the Knicks could do as no one else was really feeling their shot.
Bam Adebayo made some big-time plays for the Heat, with a few drives and dunks that were timely and he also had some great effort plays on defense that forced errant shots or turnovers
Jimmy Butler scored 24 for the Heat and grabbed 8 rebounds and he also locked down Julius Randle for most of the game as Randle only scored 15 points, with 8 of those coming from the free-throw line
Lakers win series 4-2, will face Denver Nuggets in Western Conference Finals
Golden State Warriors 101
Los Angeles Lakers 122
There’s not much to say about the Warriors in this game. They never had a lead and they had one of their disastrous road games again.
The Lakers grabbed a 15-point lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back
Golden State would get it within 5 but with the 3’s not falling, they couldn’t catch up. To make matters worse Austin Reaves would take LA into the locker room up by 10 at the half with a half-court buzzer-beater.
The Lakers had great scoring nights from most of their team. LeBron had 30, D’Angelo Russell had 19, Austin Reaves had 23, Lonnie Walker IV had 13, and Anthony Davis had 17 with 20 rebounds.
The Warriors got 32 points out of Steph and 16 out of Donte DiVincenzo. They were the only 2 double-digit scorers.
Sadly, there are no games today. Boston will host Philadelphia on Sunday for game 7 at 3:30 pm ET on ABC.
Stanley Cup Playoffs
Friday Finishes
Florida wins the series 4-1 and will face Carolina in Eastern Conference Finals
Florida Panthers 3
Toronto Maple Leafs 2
Florida grabbed a quick lead in the game with a goal in the first four minutes of action on a power play. Carter Verhaeghe would put his 5th goal of the playoffs into the net 13 minutes later in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead
Toronto wouldn’t go away easily. Morgan Rielly scored a goal in the 2nd and then William Nylander would tie it up late in the 3rd
The teams would battle it out in overtime and the Panthers had multiple opportunities to score with a power play but didn’t capitalize. Nick Cousins would eventually score the game-winner on a breakaway 3 on 2. Check it out.
Edmonton leads the series 3-2
Edmonton Oilers 3
Vegas Golden Knights 4
Connor McDavid would score 2 goals for the Oilers after a goalless game 4 but it wasn’t enough for the Oilers to grab a road win
Edmonton had a 2-1 lead at the end of the 1st period but Vegas would score 3 goals in the 2nd period, including 2 power-play goals.
Edmonton would score early in the 3rd to get it to 4-3 but they couldn’t capitalize any further
We’ll have game 6 back in Edmonton on Sunday
Today’s Matchup
Dallas Stars at Seattle Kraken, 7:00 pm ET on ESPN
Dallas leads the series 3-2
XFL Championship
Not interested in the NHL game tonight? There’s no NBA game. Why not tune into ABC at 8 pm ET and watch The XFL Championship. The D.C. Defenders will face the Arlington Renegades at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The two teams just faced each other last month and the Defenders narrowly defeated the Renegades 28-26.
