Sound the alarms!
Happy Friday! It’s Super Bowl weekend, and we have more frustrations coming from the San Francisco 49ers. We’ll discuss who’s complaining about what, cover NFL end-of-season awards, get through some stats and scores, and talk about much more.
Here we go!
🚨 Sound The Alarms! 🚨
The San Francisco 49ers had an early wake-up call thanks to a fire alarm going off in their hotel just outside of Las Vegas. Just a few days after the San Francisco 49ers had complaints about their practice field, players were woken up a little early as a fire alarm was ringing around 6 am and some players disturbed their sleep. Crazy George Kittle didn’t seem to mind, but Christian McCaffrey and Nick Bosa were perturbed. McCaffrey and Bosa believe it wasn’t just a false alarm; someone pulled it to disrupt the team’s flow during the practice week.
I’m skeptical because why would wait until 6 am to pull a fire alarm instead of doing it at 2 or 3 am and really mess up the players’ sleep?
Let’s play along and say someone was being malicious and pulled the alarm. Who could have done it? The internet thinks the #1 suspect is Kadarius Toney, and while some would say “he really crossed the line,” there is another question. How could Toney pull the alarm when he has no hands? 🤣
The good thing for the NFL players is that many of them are in their 20s, so one night of ruined sleep shouldn’t ruin their entire week.
NFL Award Season
We’re not going to analyze every award here. Just know this: Damar Hamlin did not win the Comeback Player of the Year. The man practically died on the football field, rejoined the team the next year and did not win comeback player of the year, I’m not sure what else someone needs to do.
🏈 Most Valuable Player - Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)
🏈 Offensive Player of the Year - Christian McCaffrey (San Francisco 49ers)
🏈Defensive Player of the Year - Myles Garrett (Cleveland Browns)
🏈 Offensive Rookie of the Year - C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans)
🏈Defensive Rookie of the Year - Will Anderson Jr. (Houston Texans)
🏈Coach of the Year - Kevin Stefanski (Cleveland Browns)
🛏️ Comeback off the couch Player of the Year - Joe Flacco (Cleveland Browns)
NBA Stats and Scores
We scored some big points scored last night, some more surprising than others. Let’s rapid-fire through some stats and scores.
🏀 Jerami Grant of the Portland Trailblazers scored 49 points last night in a 128-122 loss to the Detroit Pistons. Grant was 18 of 20 from the FT line.
🏀 Steph Curry flipped the switch last night and dropped 42 points in a Warriors win against the Pacers 131-109. Steph was 11 of 16 from three.
🏀 Luka Doncic had another impressive night. He scored 39 points and had 11 assists and 8 rebounds in a Dallas win over the Knicks. The final score was 122-108.
🏀 Kevin Durant scored 31 in a 129-115 Phoenix win against the Utah Jazz.
High Scoring Night In The NHL
🏒 The NY Islanders took down the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 last night. NY pumped in 3 goals in the first two periods. The Islanders had goals from 6 different players.
🏒 The Carolina Hurricanes poured in 5 goals on home ice last night in a matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. Martin Necas scored 3 goals in the 5-2 win.
🏒 The Boston Bruins recovered nicely after losing to the Flames on Tuesday. Boston took down another Canadian squad last night when they shut out the Vancouver Canucks for a 4-0 win. The Bruins had 4 goals from 4 players and Linus Ullmark got the shutout in goal with 17 saves.
🏒 The Philly Flyers spread the brotherly love on the ice yesterday as 4 individuals scored a goal each to get a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Samuel Ersson made 28 saves on 29 shot attempts for the Flyers.
🏒 We had 6 total goals in a Florida Panthers vs Washington Capitals matchup. Th Panthers won 4-2 and you guessed it, each goal came from a different player on the ice. Matthew Tkachuk had one of the goals and also added 2 extra tallies in the assist column.
WM Open First Round Goes “Swimmingly”
Swimmingly might not be the best verbiage to describe how the WM Open’s first round because no one wants to swim when it’s 50o out. There was enough rain on the course that you probably could swim on the greens, though!
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY! ⛳️ This is what it looks like at TPC Scottsdale. Due to these heavy rain storms, parts of the WM Phoenix Open are being suspended or delayed. MORE: bit.ly/3ujWoRQ

This desert apparently gets a little rain and a little cold every once in a while. Golfers got in as many holes as they could, but after a lot of rain on Wednesday, the greens were saturated, and the water started to pool. Golfers paused and headed to the clubhouse as play was suspended and then would eventually resume.
Not everyone could finish their first round of 18 by sunset, and golfers are back out this morning getting the rest of their holes in. After the full first round is complete, tee boxes and pin locations will be moved as necessary, and round 2 will back up.
The current leader is Sahith Theegala, who is -6 through the first 18. Andrew Novak is only through 9 holes and he’s sitting at -5, he’ll put in a good spot to pull ahead today. Shane Lowry and S.H. Kim are tied in 3rd with a score of -4.
Tune into ESPN+ all day and watch the extra. Bonus golf on a Friday, does it get any better!?
Overtime Overtime Overtime
That’s right, we had a triple-overtime game in college basketball last night. Arizona and Utah took it to an improbable place last night. Arizona had a 16-point lead at the end of the first half. The game’s gotta be over, right? WRONG! Utah came out and dropped 51 in the 2nd half and tied up the game.
Only 6 points were scored by both teams in the first OT. 9 points were scored in the 2nd OT by both teams. The final OT is where things started to take off for Arizona. Arizona outscored Utah 14-8 in the final 5 minutes and would go home with a W after 55 minutes of play.
