Steve Kerr Gets A Silicon Valley Valuation

+ We rapid fire the s**t out of the news

It’s Sunday. It’s almost March. It’s almost nice out. It’s almost golf season. It’s not almost football, but we’re still having a good day.

We’ve got Steve Kerr getting VC type money in Silicon Valley, we’ve got football news, basketball news, baseball news, and hockey news. We’ve got a Sunday on the PGA Tour. We’ve got it ALL, except for time, because we’ve only got 5 minutes.

Buckle up because we’re hitting warp speed today!

Steve Kerr is Rich(er)

💰️ Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a 2-year contract extension worth $35,000,000. The extension takes Kerr to the end of the 2025-26 season, aligning with Steph Curry’s contract. This deal makes Steve Kerr the highest-paid coach in NBA history.

Kerr will make more in just one year of coaching on his extension than in his 13-year playing career*.

Other NBA News

🏀 The Boston Celtics have won 8 straight games after defeating the Knicks 116-102 in Madison Square Garden. Jaylen Brown led Boston with 30 points. The Celtics also got 22 from former Knicks player Kristaps Porzingis, and Jayson Tatum added 19.

🏀 On Friday night, Victor Wembanyama pulled off what only one other rookie has ever done. Against the Lakers, Wemby recorded a 5×5. Wemby had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks. He had at least 5 counts in each of those statistical categories. The one category Wemby and the Spurs didn’t get to check that night was the win column. The Spurs still fell to the Lakers 123-118.

College Basketball Scores + Storming Court Issues

We had a great Saturday of matchup in college basketball land, but it was overshadowed by some court-storming problems. Let’s look at a few quick scores and talk about the issues.

🏀 We had a little OT action between #2 Houston and #11 Baylor. Houston would take Baylor down, outscoring them 13-7 in OT on Baylors’s home court. The final score was 82-76. Houston will likely move into the #1 spot after having two wins against ranked opponents this week.

🏀 UConn recovered nicely from their loss earlier in the week and dominated Villanova yesterday. Cam Spencer scored 25 points, and Tristen Newton had a triple-double. The Huskies won 78-54. UConn will likely drop to the #2 spot in the rankings.

🏀Another game with an overtime score but no extra time player was #17 Kentucky at home against #13 Alabama. Kentucky won 117-95. It probably helps that Kentucky shot 63% overall and 54% from 3. It also helps to have Antonio Reeves dicing dudes up, like in the video below.

🤯 And now to the part that is ruining everyone’s Sunday. Duke was upset by Wake Forest. Well, not really, because unranked Wake Forest was favored by 2 points against #8 Duke. Anyways, Wake Forest won 83-79, and then students stormed the court. Whether Wake Forest is favored or not, beating Duke is a big deal. Well, the story all day yesterday and today was about a fan bumping into Duke’s 7-footer Kyle Filipowski and him getting injured. Filipowski said he injured his knee, and he thinks the contact was intentional. Duke's HC Jon Scheyer is calling for court-storming to be banned as he claims the players don’t even get a second to get off the court and head toward the locker room.

So, what are your thoughts?

What should they do about storming the court?

Football News

🏈 Ex-NFL player Richard Sherman was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Saturday morning. Read more here.

💰️ The NFL salary cap just increased by $30 million. This is the largest salary cap jump since the cap was introduced in 1994. The only question is, which running back will the Cowboys spend all their extra money on?

👎️ In the weirdest events since Chip Kelly left the UCLA head coaching gig to be the OC at Ohio State, Eric Bieniemy is now moving from the NFL to College. Bieniemy, who was the OC for the Washington Commanders this year and was “the OC” for the Chiefs prior to that, will not be joining the UCLA staff as their OC under a 2-year deal. The Big 10 is going to be a wild place for football this year.

Hockey News

🏒 The New York Rangers continue their winning streak and have tied a franchise record ten wins in a row. The Rangers took down the Flyers 2-1 in Philadelphia as both bench managers faced former teams they used to coach. Matt Rempe netted his first career goal and sparked the Rangers with a first-period fight. It’s just his 4th career NHL game. Igor Shesterkin stood on his head as he made 39 saves, many of which could have easily gone in the back of the net.

🍁 Toronto Maple Leaf’s forward Tyler Bertuzzi turned 29 yesterday. He gifted himself a hattrick and the go-ahead goal as Toronto defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-0

Cubs and Bellinger Ink Deal

⚾️ The Chicago Cubs and centerfielder Cody Bellinger have reportedly agreed to a 3-year deal worth $80 million. Bellinger will be returning to the Cubs after playing with the team for one year, where he hit .307, had 26 home runs, and had 97 RBIs.

Sundays on Tour

🏌️ American Jake Knapp has the lead at the Mexico Championship with a total score of -19. Knapp was impressive yesterday when he fired a round 63 just a day after shooting a 64. Knapp is four strokes ahead of Sami Valimaki, who sits in 2nd, and the group that is tied for 3rd sits at -12. If Knapp can play some moderately conservative golf today, he should be able to easily get his first career win.

📺️ Tune in the Golf Channel at 1 pm ET to catch the final round action.

That’s just under 5 minutes, and we promise we went as fast as we could today!

Enjoy your day, and remember… Don’t let your Mondays ruin your Sundays!
