📰 Extra, Extra

Let’s jump in.

NCAA Tournament

There were some good battles on the court on Sunday. It was a day of teams winning purely on talent, experience, and some finally reaching the potential that many thought they had. Let’s cover a few games.

3 Gonzaga vs 6 TCU

TCU was in control of the game, leading by 5 at the half. Coming out in the 2nd , everytime TCU started to pull away, Gonzaga would go on a scoring frenzy. Either dropping a couple 3’s or getting some buckets and an and 1 foul. TCU couldn’t hold off the rush and they fell to Gonzaga 84-81.

4 UConn vs 5 Saint Mary’s

In the first 18 minutes of this game you would’ve thought Saint Mary’s was going to pull of a big upset. The seeding might not have reflected the upset potential but the eye test would say differently as UConn was clearly more talented and had more size. UConn was physically dominant in the last two minutes of the first half and it felt like an offensive line being unstoppable and having the edge heading into the locker room. UConn came out for the final 20 minutes and out-talented and outscored Saint Mary’s by 14 to win 70-55. UConn’s offense was led by Adama Sanogo who scored 24 points in the game.

3 Baylor vs 6 Creighton

Creighton was ranked #9 in the preaseason polls and weren’t living up to the hype during the season. Creighton played one of their best games of the year defeating Baylor 85-76. Creighton was led by guard Ryan Nembhard who had 30 points and went 10-10 at the free throw line. Creighton will face Princeton in the Sweet 16. It might feel like an easy setup but Princeton has proven they are not an easy out.

There were plenty of other great games. Check out the box scores and stats here.

Sundays on Tour

We had a Sunday matchup with a few big names. Adam Schenk went in with the lead with Jordan Speith and Tommy Fleetwood chasing from behind by 1 stroke.

Unfortunately for those golfers, none of them won. Taylor Moore earned his first PGA Tour victory having already finished his 18 holes and was waiting on the practice range in case of a playoff.

It didn’t come down to some magical shots on the last few holes, it came down to errors. Schenk, Speith, and Fleetwood all made some critical bogeys down the stretch and allowed Moore to take the win as Moore came in 4 under for the day. Lucky for Moore, this win gets him a spot at the Masters in 3 weeks.

On another note, Tommy Fleetwood became the 2nd golfer ever on the PGA tour to earn $15 million without ever having a win. We’re always rooting for Tommy and hopefully he gets to host a trophy this year as he’s been playing great golf.

Extra, Extra

Tomorrow we’ll be doing an update on the Women’s NCAA Tournament. We’ll also jump into some NHL and NBA playoff updates. For a little taste of NBA action, check out what Giannis did last night.

That’s all for today. Have a great start to your week.
