Super Bowl Weekend Is Here

GM, we made it to Friday. More importantly, it’s Super Bowl Weekend. Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs for having talented rosters and a sprinkle of good luck to go through the season fairly unscathed by injuries.

Here’s what we have today:

🏈 QB Injury Update

🏈 NFL MVP Announced

🏀 Trade Deadline Updates

Super Bowl Injury Update

I’m sure after Super Bowl 57 is decided, we’ll really find out how bad everyone’s injury really was. With 2 days to go before the big game, it’s a good time to discuss Patrick Mahomes’ ankle and Jalen Hurts’ shoulder. We’ve been getting some updates from the Chiefs regarding their QB’s health, we appreciate that. On the other side of the field, it’s as if the Eagles deliver injury reports using not so talented carrier pigeons. The envelope was handed off and they said “Fly Pigeon, Fly”.

Here’s what we know. Mahomes is getting better day by day. He was still mobile in AFC Championship, but not as much as you’d like. It sounds like it won’t be too much of an issue on Sunday. In the NFC Championship, Hurts’ shoulder appeared to limit some downfield throws and he was a little inaccurate on some short throws. The Eagles still relied on him in the ground game and we’re not expecting that to change. Philly’s gonna do what Philly’s gonna do… keep Hurts’ health a secret and try to use it to their advantage. Can’t blame ‘em.

If you like graphs better, here are the injury reports summed up nicely.

NFL MVP

In other Mahomes news… He’s been awarded with the 2022 NFL Most Valuable Player award. This is the 2nd of his career. In 2022, Mahomes surpassed Drew Brees’ single season record for total yards. Mahomes recorded 5,614 total yards. 5,250 of those yards were passing and 358 came on the ground. He threw 41 touchdowns and rushed for 4.

There is a potential negative side of this, although we’ll see if Mahomes can “break the curse” on Sunday.
