The Texas Rangers Sweep Baltimore

Good Morning! We’re almost halfway through the week and that means we’re halfway to a dope Pac-12 matchup on Saturday. We’ll have to be patient for a few more days and in the meantime let’s talk all the sports.

NHL Debut

The NHL Season dropped pucks last night and it was a great start. Let’s cover the opening night games.

Nashville Predators 3, Tampa Bay Lightning 5

  • The Preds looked like they could squeak out a win in Tampa after they grabbed a 2-1 lead early in the 3rd period. Tampa doesn’t let up easily and they scored 4 goals in 18 minutes to win 5-3. Nicholas Paul and Nikita Kucherov both had two goals for the Lightning.

Chicago Blackhawks 4, Pittsburgh Penguins 2

  • It took Connor Bedard less than 2 periods in the NHL to get his first career point after he assisted Ryan Donato on a 2nd-period goal. The Blackhawks would make their season opener on the road a comeback win as they were down 2-0 in the 2nd period. Chicago would score 4 unanswered goals.

Seattle Kraken 1, Vegas Golden Knights 4

  • The Golden Knights opened their season with a very Vegaslike banner celebration and they picked up right where they left off last season with a 4-1 win. Chandler Stephenson, Jonathan Marchessault, Ivan Barbashev, and Jack Eichel would each score a goal and Mark Stone would finish with 2 assists.

We’ve got 6 more matchups tonight, check out the schedule below.

MLB Playoffs

Texas Rangers Sweep

The Baltimore Orioles won 101 games in the regular season this year. The O’s had a bye for the first round of playoffs and theoretically should’ve had the advantage in the Divisional Series. Apparently, the Texas Rangers didn’t get the message and they cleaned up Baltimore in 3 games. Texas outscored Baltimore 21-11 during the sweep.

Tonight’s Schedule

Atlanta @ Philadelphia, 5:07 pm ET on TBS

  • Series tied 1-1

Houston @ Minnesota, 7:07 pm ET on FS1

  • Houston leads Minnesota 2-1 and will have the opportunity to win the ALDS tonight and face off with the Rangers in the ALCS

LA Dodgers @ Arizona, 9:07 pm ET on TBS

  • The Dodgers led 2-0 and can complete the sweep. Lance Lynn is the starting pitcher for the Dodgers tonight.

College Football Rankings

The week 7 AP rankings are out and we’ve got 2 more weeks of football before the playoff committee releases their own rankings. Here are the biggest movers of this week.

  • Oklahoma moved up 7 spots after their big win against Texas

  • Louisville moved up 9 spots after a big win against Notre Dame

  • Miami dropped top 25 after their crazy loss to Georgia Tech due to their wild coaching blunder.

NFL Injuries

It’s waiver wire day so let’s cover some NFL injuries and how it could impact your fantasy team.

QBs

  • Colts QB Anthony Ricardson is expected to miss at least 4 weeks with an AC joint injury. Gardner Minshew will continue to be the starter.

  • Giants’ QB Daniel Jones suffered a neck injury in their matchup vs the Dolphins. His goal is to play Sunday against the Bills.

  • Cleveland’s QB Deshaun Watson is day-to-day with a rotator cuff injury

RBs

  • Dolphins RB De’Von Achane will be out with a knee injury. There is no timetable for his return except that he’s likely out for multiple weeks. Raheem Mostert will pick up the slack but you can expect Chris Brooks to get some extra carries especially since the Dolphins are facing the 0-5 Panthers.

  • Chargers RB Austin Ekeler said he’s 99% likely to make his return on Monday when they play the Cowboys on MNF.

  • Cardinals RB James Conner was placed on IR with a knee injury. He will miss at least 4 games.

WRs/TEs

  • Jags WR Zay Jones is day-to-day with a knee injury

  • Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson is likely to be placed on the IR with a hamstring injury.

  • Chiefs’ TE Travis Kelce is practicing on a short week after injuring his ankle in Sunday’s game. He’s expected to give it a go tomorrow in a TNF matchup vs the Broncos.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the day and we’ll be back tomorrow to talk Thursday Night Football and possibly another MLB sweep.
