That's A LOT of Money To Not Work

Okay, so it’s Sunday and we were going to publish just on the site and save you from an extra email today but our college football Saturday was too good to not shoot something out.

We’re going for serious rapid fire here, so fill up your cup of coffee, crack a beer, or do nothing but read this as gravity pulls you deeper and deeper into your couch until a pizza gets delivered.

Seventy-Five Million Dollars

We got some news down south that would get Doctor Evil and Mr. Bigglesworth laughing. Texas A&M is expected to fire Jimbo Fisher today and the Aggies program will owe Fisher more than $75,000,000 as he has eight years remaining on his contract. 8 freaking years!

What’s crazier is you know Texas A&M is going to be dishing out some serious cash for the next guy they hire.

Why is A&M firing Fisher? Well, Fisher was leading the way in College Football just a few years ago at Florida State. He had an 83-23 record at FSU and got The ‘Noles a natty in 2013. It was quite the 8-year run in Tallahassee and the expectation was he’d get the A&M program to the same level of success. That hasn’t happened. Fisher has a 45-25 record and they’ve under .500 in the SEC the last few years. The Aggies are currently 6-4 this year and 4-3 in the SEC.

What I find ironic is A&M has these massive expectations and in the past 25 years they’ve only had two seasons where they’ve had more than 9 wins.

So the question is…. Is it the coach or is it the program?

Like most things… it’s probably a combination of the two.

Saturday Recap

Let’s rapid-fire through the teams that still have a chance of getting into the CFP.

No. 1 Ohio State 38 | Michigan State 3

🏈 Ohio State rattled off 35 points in the 1st half in Columbus. Marvin Harrison Jr. scored 3 touchdowns, 2 coming in the air and 1 on the ground.

No. 2 Georgia 52 | No. 9 Ole Miss 17

🏈Well, well, well… Georgia is apparently still pretty darn good. The Bulldogs defense stepped up and held a talented offense to a few scores but the Bulldogs offense showed out. Georgia had an elite performance that totaled 611 yards. I’m not sure Bama can stop this crew, but we’ll find out in a few weeks!

No. 3 Michigan 24 | No. 10 Penn State 15

🏈Michigan handled their business at a difficult road venue without their head coach. It was an emotional win for the Wolverines and it was much needed. The Penn State offense is abysmal but their defense is still a good one. Michigan played their own style of football in the 2nd half, only throwing the ball 1 time.

No. 4 Florida State 27 | Miami 20

🏈 Florida State looks like they want to find a way to keep themselves out of the CFP race. FSU had another come-from-behind win and showed their ability to make 2nd half adjustments. Should FSU have rolled over Miami? Maybe… but I’m also not too concerned when you have a game like this between two historic programs

No. 5 Washington 35 | No. 18 Utah 28

🏈 Washington sure tried giving this one away after Alphonzo Tuputala had an awesome pick-six….. or so we thought! Tuputala dropped the ball as he was crossing the goal line and Utah recovered it at their own goal line. The Washington defense stepped up the next play and got a safety and they continued making plays. It’s a big win from the Huskies and I imagine this will move them ahead of FSU in the CFP ranking.

No. 6 Oregon 36 | USC 27

🏈 Man this Oregon football team is great to watch.
Bo Nix threw 4 TDs yesterday as he looks to stay at the top of the Heisman race. The Oregon defense played well enough to hold a still very talented Trojan offense to just 27 points. Oregon is in the perfect position to face Washington in the Pac-12 championship and is keeping the CFP door open!

No. 7 Texas 29 | TCU 26

🏈Similar to FSU vs. Miami, I can’t be too concerned with in-state rivals facing each other, but man, Texas had a 26-6 lead going into the 4th quarter and they almost let a big lead slip away into a loss. A team that wants to have a shot at making the playoffs with 1 loss needs to not get outscored 20-3 in the 4th quarter.

No. 8 Alabama 49 | Kentucky 21

🏈 Alabama locked up the SEC West yesterday with a huge win and an even bigger performance from Jalen Milroe. Milroe was 15/22 for 234 yards and 3 passing touchdowns. Oh, you want more? Okay… he also rushed for 36 yards on 8 carries and had 3 rushing touchdowns. SIX TOTAL TOUCHDOWNS. Roll Damn Tide.

Enjoy the NFL games today and remember….
