The Upsets Are Starting At Wimbledon
Today's Estimated Reading Time: 3 Minutes and 59 Seconds
Good Morning and Happy Wednesday. We’re the Daily Breakroom and we’re like those officials at tennis matches. We like to kick back in our chairs and watch all the action, minus getting yelled at by the athletes.
We’ve got a lot more than just “action” today. We’ve got business dealings, and even some criminal matters [cue the Law and Order melody..just kidding]
Here’s what we got today:
Wimbledon Upsets
Big Match For The USMNT
MLB All-Star Game
1 NBA Star Trying To Get Back On The Court and Another Making Deals
Alvin Kamara Settles
Wimbledon
Women’s Singles
Iga Swiatek, the favorite to win the Wimbledon’s Women’s Singles tournament, took an upset L yesterday when she fell to Elina Svitolina.
Check this, Svitolina is a wild card seed and just returned from maternity leave 3 months ago.
Svitolina will face Markéta Vondroušová in the semi-finals tomorrow.
Men’s Singles
We didn’t chat about Wimbledon yesterday so we’re playing catch-up on the Men’s side. World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas was upset Monday after having a 2-1 lead against American Christopher Eubanks. Eubanks would come from behind and win the final 2 sets to take the win and move on to the quarterfinals.
Eubanks is facing Daniil Medvedev at 9:15 am ET today.
Surprise Surprise…. Novak Djokovic won his quarterfinal match yesterday against Andrey Rublev. Rublev won the first set but Djokovic would dominate the next 3 and get the W. He’ll play his semi-final match against Jannik Sinner on Friday.
USMNT
The US Men’s National Team has a big soccer match against Panama tonight in the CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-finals. Gametime is set for 7:30 pm ET and you can watch it on FS1.
The Panama National Team, aka Los Canaleros, has always been a tough out for the USMNT. The US has gone 6-1-4 in 11 meetups with Los Canaleros.
Tune in tonight to see if the US will find its way into the finals against the winner of Jamaica vs Mexico.
MLB All-Star Game
Let’s talk All-Star Game. The National League defeated the American League 3-2 for the first time in nine years. Cool, but that doesn’t really matter.
You know what is kind of cool?
Playing in your first All-Star game as a 32-year-old and hitting a two-run dinger over the fence to give your team the go-ahead runs to win.
Yup, we’re talking about Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz. He knocked one over the left field wall in the 8th inning in his All-Star debut. Pretty, pretty, pretty cool.
DIAZ PUTS THE NATIONAL LEAGUE AHEAD‼️ 🍿 #AllStarGame

NBA Comeback Szn
Zion Williamson
Zion made an appearance on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast and almost everything was on the table. Zion even spent some time discussing his shortcomings health-wise and his lack of availability on the court. He admitted that he wasn’t doing enough to stay in shape and that’s it tough as a young dude in his 20s with all the money in the world.
He did mention that he’s putting more focus on health and wants to be out there with his guys to help them win games. We’re not sure if band workouts are going to solve his problem, but maybe Zion can hire a team to get him dialed in. Just a thought
Zion keeps it real on his health journey 💯

Kryie Gets A New Deal
Kyrie Irving keeps finding ways to make deals and get paid. Irving just signed a new deal with the Mavs that keeps him in Dallas for 3 years for $126 million.
Eight months after Nike dropped his shoe endorsement deal, Kyrie has found himself back on his feet, or should we say, back in a pair of sneakers.
Kyrie signed a 5-year endorsement deal with Chinese sportswear brand ANTA and he’s now the Chief Creative Office for the brand as well.
Could this be the start of ANTA becoming more mainstream in the US and will see more players signing with the brand?
Trouble For Alvin Kamara
New Orleans Saints star RB Alvin Kamara has agreed to plead no contest to a lesser charge in Las Vegas after facing a misdemeanor and felony charge of battery related to a fight that took place in 2022.
Kamara reached an agreement with the victim of the fight and Kamara is facing 30 hours of community service and will be paying the victim’s medical bills.
It is unclear if the NFL will be handing down any additional penalties of their own. It seems likely that the league will drop some form of discipline as they’ve been known to be stricter than the law.
You Need Some Peanut Butter For That Jam?
We had a jam fest in last night’s summer league matchup between Portland and Charlotte. Give yourself a minute to watch some monster jams.
