Upsetti Spaghetti
We got it, dudes! We got our serving of upsetti spaghetti, with extra sauce!
We’re just popping in to say hello today, drop off some quick news along with who we think the big upsets will be this weekend.
If you’re feeling weird and think you’ve watched too much college basketball, don’t worry. There are a few other things to do during the rest of the weekend.
Let’s run through this real quick.
March Madness Round 1: Friday
16 games, 6 Upsets, 1 Seeds Dominate. Need a little more? We got you.
🏀 1 seed UConn cleaned up Stetson. I mean, this wasn’t even fair. UConn had a 52-19 lead at the end of the first half. Final score was 91-52, say no more, fam.
🏀 16 seed Grambling put up a fight against 1 seed Purdue, but 7-footer Zach Edey proved to be too much. Edey finished with 30 points, 21 rebounds, and 3 blocks and Purdue escaped the first round this year with a final score of 78-50.
🏀 Our final 1 seed that played on Friday, Houston, had a great first half against Longwood. The score at half was 43-16. Houston rested some guys and put up another 43 in the 2nd half. Final score was 86-46 and all the 1 seeds are safe.
🏀 2 seed Marquette started slow and almost let the Big East down against 15 Western Kentucky. Marquette was down 43-36 at the end of the first half but crushed Western Kentucky in the 2nd half. Marquette advances after the 87-69 win.
🏀 3 seed Baylor beat 14 seed Colgate 92-67.
🏀 LET’S FREAKING GO IVY LEAGUE. WE KNEW THIS COULD HAPPEN. 13 SEED YALE UPSET 4 SEED AUBURN 78-76. Give yourself a few minutes and watch this chaotic ending where Auburn can’t clutch free throws!
🏀 All of America was looking at Vermont to upset Duke last night. 13 seed vs a 4 seed. We thought we were going to get it after Vermont only trailed by 5 at the end of the first half. Duke won 64-47 but I’m not convinced that Duke is convinced that they have what it takes to go far in the tournament.
🏀 4 seed Alabama faced a pretty good scare against 13-seed Charleston. These teams practically played two games in 1 last night. The final score was Bama 109, Charleston 96. The 2nd half had 110 points scored, which almost outscored most of the other round 1 games. WILD.
🏀 5 seed San Diego State just escaped 12 seed UAB 69-65. UAB almost had a complete comeback if it wasn’t for a missed three near the end.
🏀 12 seed James Madison shocked 5-seed Wisconsin last night. JMU had a 13-point lead at the end of the first half. The 2 Wisconsin stars were a massive letdown last night, with AJ Storr only scoring 13 points and Chucky Hepburn only scoring 8. It’s a disappointing end to a season where Wisconsin started hot, got cold in the winter and looked great in the Big 10 tournament. JMU lives another day!
🏀 We had another 12 seed upset with Grand Canyon getting their first ever NCAA Tournament win over 5 seed Saint Mary’s.
🏀 I really liked 11 seed New Mexico but they dropped the ball against 6 seed Clemson. Clemson didn’t play spectacularly on offense, but they kept New Mexico to 29% on field goals and 13% from three-point land. That’s a recipe for disaster if you’re New Mexico.
🏀 We’re getting closer to upsets not really being upsets as 10 seed Colorado upset 7 seed Florida. It was a last second dagger that sealed the deal for UC Boulder and they got the win 102-100.

🏀 9-seed Northwestern won in overtime against 8-seed FAU. Honestly, this was the weirdest way to end regulation. Northwestern tied it up with almost 8 seconds left, and then FAU came down the court and took the worst shot ever.
NORTHWESTERN TIES IT UP WITH 9 SECONDS LEFT.

🏀 9-seed Texas A&M demolished 8-seed Nebraska 98-83. Nebraska has never won a tournament game. Isn't that crazy to think about? Well, it’s true. They are the only power conference school that has never won a tournament game.
🏀 Utah State was the only 8 seed to escape unscathed after beating TCU 88-72.
Round 2 Matchups
We’ve got 16 games over today and tomorrow. Here’s the full schedule.
Who do we think will be the big upsets?
👉️ Not really a huge upset, but 4 seed Kansas’ run will likely end today against 5 seed Gonzaga. Kansas is getting 3.5 points, and I don’t think Vegas is wrong.
👉️ NC State is an 11 seed, and they have been rolling through teams lately. This isn’t really an upset alert, but I can’t wait to watch them play 14-seed Oakland, who just upset Kentucky. That’s going to be one helluva game at 7:10 pm tonight on truTV.
👉️ If James Madison plays against Duke like they did Wisconsin, we could see a 12 upset a 4 tomorrow at 5:15 pm on CBS.
👉️ Grand Canyon just got their first win in the NCAA Tourney EVER. Can they get a second win in a 12-4 upset when they face Alabama tomorrow? This could could turn into a shootout!
👉️ At this point, I think the Ivy League schools can do it all. We never get to see much of them throughout the regular season, and this is primetime for a 13 upsetting a 5-seed San Diego State. It’s the latest game tomorrow night, but it might be the best upset of them all!
