Viktor Hovland Dominates During Final Round
+ The Yankees Stink
Good Morning, this is the Daily Breakroom and we’re here to start your week off right. Go grab that 2nd cup of coffee and let’s power through this Monday.
Here’s what we got today:
⛳️ Viktor Hovland’s Sunday Domination
⛳️ Brooksy Off of Ryder Cup Roster
🏈 Aaron Rodgers Making Preseason Debut
🏀 Anthony Edwards Is The Guy For the US
⚾️ The Yankees Stink
Viktor Hovland Grabs A Huge Win
Matthew Fitzpatrick and Scottie Scheffler were sharing the lead heading into Sunday’s final round at the BMW Championship. They both went 4 under in their final round and that would have brought them to a playoff for the trophy but Viktor Hovland had different plans.
Hovland shot a 33 on the front and he fired away on the back 9 to close out a tremendous round of golf where he shot a 61, setting the course record.
On the back 9, he shot a 28. He had 7 birdies, hit 6 of 7 fairways, hit 9 of 9 greens in regulation, and he only took 11 total putts. Quite impressive and quite timely. With this win, Hovland moves up to No.2 in the FedEx Cup rankings and he’ll start next week’s Tour Championship with a hefty amount of strokes.
and we shouldn’t forget to mention that Hovland gets a nice money bag with this win. $3,600,000. 💰️ 💰️ 💰️
Brooks Koepka Not On The Ryder Cup Team?
Brooksy might not be on the Ryder Cup Roster for the US when they take to the course in Italy against the European team. Koepka was hanging out with an automatic roster spot last week but Max Homa and Xander Schauffele slid past him for a spot after their positive showings at the BMW Championship. The top 6 rosters are now locked in.

Zach Johnson, the US Captain, does have 6 captain’s picks that he can use. It’s hard to think that he won’t pick Koepka after he tied for 2nd at the Masters and won the PGA Championship this year.
Johnson did say that it’s hard for him to evaluate the LIV Golfers because he doesn’t get to see them play that often. We’ve got 8 days until the rosters get picked so stay tuned!
Aaron Rodgers Will Make Preseason Debut
If you’re a Jets fan, mark your calendars for Aug 26. (you probably already did that anyways) because Aaron Rodgers is making his gridiron debut for Gang Green.
The Jets are playing the NY Giants in their final preseason game of the season and Rodgers will get some time behind center. He’ll likely be out there for just a series or two but it will be interesting to see how things move at almost full pace.
The big question you’re all wondering……. Can the O-line protect him?
We’ll see!
Team USA Defeats Germany w/ Help From Edwards
Team USA is figuring out how to play with each other in an effort to prepare for the FIBA World Cup. The US team has only been together for 2.5 weeks but each exhibition game is an opportunity for a tune-up.
Well the US didn’t just get a tune-up yesterday, they turned it up in the 2nd half against Germany after they were down 16 points. The US would go on an 18-0 run in the final minutes and would finish the exhibition season 5-0.
Anthony Edwards was that dude as he scored 34 points. Austin Reaves and Tyrese Haliburton scored 16 each to help in the effort.
The Yankees Stink
The New York Yankees are terrible. You know it, I know it, hell, even the Yankees know it.
Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox swept the Yankees again with a 6-5 win in the Bronx. The Yankees have gone 1-8 against Boston this year in what is becoming an abysmal year for NY. The Yanks are on an 8 game losing streak and are 9 games out of the last Wild Card spot.
Models currently show that the Yankees have a .5% percent chance to make the playoffs. Yup, you read it correctly. A ONE HALF OF ONE PERCENT chance to make the playoffs.
Fun Fact: The Red Sox have outscored the Yankees 54-24 over the 9 games they've played. 😆
