Wemby Goes Off

+ College Football Saturday Preview

Happy Friday! We’ve got a busy, busy day today and it’s payday. Victor Wembanyama was earning his paycheck last night. We’ve also got jockeys and horse trainers trying to earn a fat check this weekend at Santa Anita Park in California. We’re going to round this thing out with some major college football matchups this weekend, where maybe you’ll earn a little extra cash if you play your cards right.

Let’s go.

Wemby Goes Off

San Antonio Spurs 132 | Phoenix Suns 121

⭐️ Rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama had the best performance of his young NBA career on Thursday night. Wemby scored 38 points and added 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal. He is the third teenager in NBA history to put up at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks in a game.

⌛️ The Spurs led by as many as 27 points in the game, but the Suns tied it up with 4 minutes to go in the game. Wembanyama drove in the dagger with a pull-up three with two minutes remaining to put the Spurs up 10 and seal the victory.

👉️ Devin Booker was outstanding in his return from a toe injury. He finished 1 rebound shy of a triple-double with 31 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists.

Thursday Night Football Scoreboard

Tennessee Titans (3-5) 16 | Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) 20

🏈 The Pittsburgh Steelers have thrived in close games this year. They string you along just enough to close it out on the last few series of plays. Four of their five wins have been games that they’ve entered the fourth quarter trailing.

🏈 Kenny Pickett (19/30, 160 yards, 1 TD) threw the go-ahead touchdown to Diontae Johnson with about 4 minutes to go in the 4th.

💪 Will Levis (22/39, 262 yards, 1 INT) was brought back to earth after a 4 TD debut on Sunday. Levis made some good plays but would throw a pick at the goal line on the last drive when he was trying to make something happen for the Titans. I think the Titans will be pretty comfortable with Levis if Ryan Tannehill can’t make a speedy return with his high ankle sprain.

🏃 Derrick Henry had 17 carries for 75 yards and a TD for the Titans. Najee Harris had 16 carries for 69 yards and a TD for the Steelers. Roll Tide🐘

Boston Bruins Remain Unbeaten

🏒 The Bruins are one of two unbeaten teams left in the NHL and the Toronto Maple Leafs were attempting to spoil that last night

🏒The Maple Leafs made a comeback after being down 2-0 and would get the game into a shootout. Boston would find the back of the net on their first two attempts and the Maple Leafs would miss their first and second attempt. 2 points go to the Bruins!

College Football Saturday

We’re in week 10 of the College Football Calendar and the conference schedules continue to provide some fierce competition, especially with the ranked matchups heating up and the undefeated teams continue to drop. Here’s a full schedule of games, we’re going to look at the matchups for the top-ranked teams in the CFP rankings.

#1 Ohio State @ Rutgers

📺️ Noon ET on CBS

👀 Ohio State jumped the rankings this week when they were named the #1 team in the nation by the CFP Committee. Can the Buckeyes live up to the hype against the Scarlet Knights? Ohio State is 9-0 vs Rutgers since Rutgers joined the Big10 in 2014. Ohio State is off to an 8-0 start and Rutgers is off to its best start since joining the Big10 at 6-2.
🔑 The Ohio State offense has a top-10 passing offense but is middle of the pack in points scored per game. Rutgers has a top 10 defense, only allows 15 points per game, and has the #2 passing defense in the country(of course, they’ve been playing other Big10 teams). Is this week prime for an epic upset?

💰️ OSU is 18.5 point favorites tomorrow and the O/U is 42.5. I’ll take Rutgers and the under.

#23 Kansas State @ #7 Texas

📺️ Noon ET on FOX

👀 Five teams are sharing first place in the Big12 and that list includes both of these teams. Texas can’t afford another loss if they want to remain in a position to slide into the playoffs. K-State has the best scoring D in the Big 12 and the Texas offense has struggled in the beginning of games recently.

🔑 Quinn Ewers is still out for the Longhorns, but Maalik Murphy is ready to lead the Longhorns to another W this week and I think he can do it.

💰️ Texas is -3.5 point favorites and the O/U is 49.5. I think this will be a shootout, so I’m going to take K-State getting points and the over.

#12 Missouri @ #2 Georgia

📺️ 3:30 pm ET on CBS

👀 Georgia hasn’t faced any super tough teams this year other than Florida. Missouri. You can almost say the same thing for Missouri except they lost a somewhat close game to LSU, and it’s a talented LSU team.

🔑Mizzou has a top-tier tier redzone offense and Georgia is 98th in redzone defense. Mizzou has a balanced offense but the Georgia passing game is still elite, even with TE Brock Bowers out. This game is going to come down to whoever can make the big stops on defense because I think it’s going to be a semi-shootout.

💰️ Georiga is -15.5 point favorites and the O/U is 55.5. I’ll take Mizzou getting points and the over.

#4 Florida State @ Pittsburgh

📺️ 3:30 pm ET on ESPN

👀 Florida State can clinch their first appearance in the ACC Championship game since 2014 with a win tomorrow. Pittsburgh normally fields a challenging team and could spoil the season for a team or two. Pittsburgh is coming off of a 58-7 loss to Notre Dame and I don’t think this is going to be some sort of revenge week.

💰️ Florida State is a -21.5 point favorite in the O/U is 50.5. I’ll take FSU and the under. I think it’s a 35-10 type of game.

California @ #6 Oregon

📺️ 5:30 pm ET on Pac-12 Network

👀The Cal Golden Bears have proven they can put up points as they’ve challenged USC, Oregon State, and Washington this year. Oregon is a different beast though. The Ducks are completing over 75% of their passes and they’ve got a stout defense. Cal’s RB and Pac-12 leading rusher Jaydyn Ott left the game against USC with an injury last week, but it appears he’ll be ready to go against Oregon

💰️ Oregon is -24.5 point favorites and the O/U is 59.5. I feel like any time I pick Oregon getting all these points they just let me down. I’m going to Oregon with the points, especially at home. I’ll leave O/U alone, but if you feel so inclined, take the over! If Ott plays, he’ll be good for a score or two.

Purdue @ #3 Michigan

📺️ 7:30 pm ET on NBC

👀 This one is pretty simple. Purdue isn’t very good and Michigan is coming off of a bye week and they’re in the middle of a sign-stealing scandal. The oddsmakers aren’t thinking this could be anything close to an upset and neither do I. The question for Michigan is how many touchdowns will they score? They’re average margin of victory is just under 35 points this year and they have Penn State next weekend…will they be looking ahead?

💰️ Michigan is -32.5 point favorites and the O/U is 52.5. I’ll take Michigan giving almost 5 touchdowns.

#5 Washington @ #20 USC

📺️ 7:30 pm ET on ABC

👀A few weeks ago this was looking like the premier matchup to be but USC has let us down. USC’s hopes of a National Championship may be erased, but that doesn’t mean they can’t spoil Washington’s hopes. USC has been underachieving the last few weeks and it seems like they're due for a win. Both defenses have been extremely weak when compared to their offensive output and this game is going to be about points, points, and more points.

💰️ Washington is giving 3 points in this matchup and the O/U is 76.5. This is wild but I think you have to take the over and I think I’ll go with Washington. I just don’t think the USC defense can make the big plays during this game to get the W.

#14 LSU @ #8 Alabama

📺️ 7:45 pm ET on CBS

👀 A win for Alabama would almost secure their control of the SEC West. The Crimson Tide have responded well to their early-season loss to Texas, winning six games in a row. The Alabama defense is the best LSU will face all season, but LSU performed well against this team last year. The Tide can also be susceptible to the deep ball.

📉 LSU Tigers have a vulnerable defense that ranks 105th in opponent yards per play and 93rd in scrimmage plays allowed of 20+ yards. They are also missing several key defensive players. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is balling out this season, leading the nation's top-rated offense. He is also the country's leader in yards per attempt.

💰️ Alabama is giving 3 points in this matchup and the O/U is 61.5. I’m definitely taking the over in this one and I’ll take Bama giving the points.

BEDLAM

Don’t think we forgot about this awesome matchup between in-state rivals. the Oklahoma Sooners are traveling 90 minutes North to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater.

📺️ Gametime is 3:30 pm ET on ABC

👀 This could be the final Bedlam matchup between these two schools for a while as OU is moving into the SEC next year. This game is also about more than just bragging rights. These two teams are part of the 5-way 1st place tie in the Big 12. OU is coming off of a loss to Kansas and Oklahoma State has won 4 in a row after starting 2-2.

🔑Ollie Gordon II is the Cowboy key to the game. He’s one of the top rushers in the country and if the Sooners can’t round him up and take him down they’ll be in for a long day.

🔑Oklahoma’s offense ranks 4th nationally in scoring as 7th in total offense. They’ll be able to put points up on this Oklahoma State defense, but how many points comes down to how well Oklahoma can shut down the run game. If the Sooners let Gordon run all over, that’s going to burn the clock and keep the Sooner offense and Dillon Gabriel off the field.

💰️ OU is giving 6 points in this game and the O/U is 61.5. I don’t know if OK State will win straight up, but I think they’ll cover. I’ll stay away from the point total on this one.

Thanks for sticking with the super long read today! Enjoy all the action this weekend.
