What's up with Deion Sanders?

What’s up.. It’s Thursday and if you haven’t noticed, we’ve been spending a lot of time on playoffs, rightfully so.

We’re going to continue with that theme today but it seems like Deion Sanders and his kids know that playoffs are all the talk right now too and they can’t seem to handle it.

So let’s check out some scores and see what’s going on with Prime and co.

NBA Playoffs Cool Down

Aka there’s no more Heat..

🏀 The Boston Celtics finished off the Miami Heat with a brutal 118-84 beatdown. All the Celtics starters played less than 3/4’s of the game after Boston was up 98-66 at the end of 3 quarters. There are no real stats to cover here. Boston dominated, Miami doesn’t have Jimmy Butler, and they were 3 of 29 from three last night, playing in desperation mode. We’ll see if Miami can add some pieces to their puzzle for next year. I guess it’s time to enjoy South Beach.

Boston will play the winner of the Cleveland/Orlando series in the next round.

🏀 Luka Doncic wasn’t going to be the reason the Dallas Mavericks lose a game 5. After a weak game 4, Luka came out firing and scored 35, had 7 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Mavs won 123-93 and game 6 is heading back to Dallas.

What happened with the Clippers? Kawhi is out with a knee problem. Paul George went 4-13 last night, and James Harden had an even worse showing, going 2-12. I told you the Clippers wouldn’t be a problem.

A Pair of Game 6’s

The Bucks face the Pacers in game 6 of their series in Indiana tonight. Indiana has a 3-2 lead in the series. It looks like the Bucks will be without Giannis or Dame again.

📺️ Gametime is 6:30 pm on TNT

👀The second game of the night is a late-night special for the northeast corridor. We’ve got game six between the Knicks and 76ers in Philly tonight, with the Knicks having the 3-2 lead in the series. The Knicks squandered a last-minute lead in game 5, but they also packed the house in game 4 in Philadelphia, something a few people are catching on to.

Michael Rubin, who owns the Sixers, has purchased over 2,000 tickets and is giving them to first responders, healthcare workers, and other organizations around Philly so Knicks fans can’t pack the arena again.

Also, Knicks fans are now realizing how much more affordable it is to go to a game in Philly than at MSG. You can get a train ticket, a hotel, and a ticket to the game tonight and still save money compared to going to a game at MSG.

Stanley Cup Playoffs

🏒 The Edmonton Oilers have advanced to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after beating the LA Kings 4-3 last night. The Oilers got a goal from Evander Kane, two from Leon Draisaitl and then Zach Hyman scored the difference maker late in the 2nd. This is one of the more impressive storylines this year, seeing as Edmonton started the season out 3-9-1.

🏒 The Dallas Stars have regained control in their series against the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas won the first two games of the series on the road, and now Dallas has won three straight to have a 3-2 lead over the defending champs.

Tonight’s Matchup

The Bruins face the Maple Leafs in Toronto tonight for game 6 of their series. Boston has a 3-2 lead and can close it out tonight with a road win. FYI, Auston Matthews will be a game-time decision for Toronto tonight

Coach Prime Can’t Stay Out The News

The other day, a former Colorado football player, Xavier Smith, told The Athletic’s Max Olson that Coach Prime "never even tried to get to know me" and that Deion Sanders was "destroying guys' confidence and belief in themselves.". Smith eventually transferred out of UC Boulder and headed to Austin Peay.

Well, I guess the Sanders family doesn’t take criticism kindly because the fellas took to Twitter. Deion’s son and Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders hit up Twitter, saying Smith was “mid at best”.

For the millennials and Gen Xers… that means he was very average (I’m pretty sure).

There was a little more back-and-forth on Twitter, and Coach Prime finally got involved when some other Austin Peay players decided to chime in. Coach Prime hit a player back, saying that Shedeur would be a top-five draft pick, and asked where that kid was going.

It’s wild stuff from a college head coach, but do we expect anything else from Deion? I would probably stay out of the news and focus on winning, but I guess Deion goes by that any publicity is good publicity policy.

PGA Tour

The PGA Tour is teeing it up at the Byron Nelson Classic today. While you wait for the NHL and NBA games tonight, tune in to ESPN+ all day and check out the golf channel at 4 p.m.

The Byron Nelson is played at TPC Craig Ranch, just north of Dallas. It’s a par 71 course that stretches 7,414 yards. Today’s weather is going to bring some rain and a little wind to the course. With the course being in the middle of the pack in length, we can expect some lower scores today if the greens are playing soft.

That’s all for today. Enjoy the action, and hopefully, we'll see some epic endings in the games tonight.
