Will the Vikings Start 0-2?
+ The Braves Bring In The Champagne Showers
Good Morning. It’s a Thursday and we’ve only got a few more days left of summer. Why not make it pretty much all about football today?

Hike!
Thursday Night Football
We’ve got the rematch of the 2022 NFC Championship tonight as the Minnesota Vikings are heading to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in a Thursday Night Football matchup.
Last year the Vikings were 13-4 before losing to the Giants in the first round of the playoffs. They had 11 wins that were by less than one score and a few more statistically improbable comebacks. All NFL teams have a lot of one score games on their scoreboards at the end of the season but Vikings just didn’t pass the eye test. The big question is will they pass their test against the Eagles tonight? If the Vikings can’t pull out a win, they’ll be starting the season with 2 losses, half as may as they had through 17 weeks last year. If you’re wondering why we’re talking about this, it’s because out of all the teams that have started 0-2 since 1990, only 11% of made the playoffs that season.
So what’s the matchup like this year? The Vikings have QB Kirk Cousins and two awesome receivers in Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. They are 6.5-point underdogs and are coming off of a home loss to Tampa Bay. Philadelphia beat what we think is a tough New England team in week 1 but they had some luck involved. Philly grabbed a pick 6 on the opening drive and recovered a fumble on the Patriots’ second drive and the Eagles’ D was superb against the Pats.
Both the Eagles and Vikings are dealing with injuries this week. The Eagles are without 4 starters on defense, and their RB1 is out. The Vikings starting center is out and two defensive linemen are questionable.
With the spread being Vikings +6.5 and the O/U being 49 I’m going to take the Vikings ATS and if I had to choose, I’d take the over because life’s too short to not take the love.
Gametime is 8:15 pm ET and the game will be on NBC and Amazon Prime Video.
Get Your Fantasy Rosters Ready
We’re checking in before tonight’s game so you can get your rosters ready if needed.
Travis Kelce: He’s back to practice and there’s a good chance he’ll play this week as the Chiefs take on the Jaguars. What you’ll need to figure out is if he’ll be a big target this week and if he’s worth putting back in the starting TE spot.
Mark Andrews: The TE for Baltimore didn’t play last week with a quad injury, but things are looking up. The Ravens are missing their RB1 now and if Andrews does make it on the field he’ll be a big target against the Bengals.
Christian Watkins: The Green Bay WR had a hamstring strain last week and the Packers offense looked good against the Bears. I’d leave Watkins on the bench this week as he might not be 100% against the Falcons. Even if he plays, he’ll likely be limited.
Jakobi Meyers: The Raiders WR is in concussion protocol and it seems to be keeping players out for more than a week. Expect his return in week 3.
Tyler Allgeier: This one is less about injury and more about the surprise. Allgeier split time with Bijan Robinson in Atlanta’s backfield last week. Allgeier finished with 24 fantasy points last week. It’s not guaranteed he’ll split everything with Robinson all year but he might be a great addition to your roster until everything gets sorted out.
Micah Parson Speaking Facts?
Cowboys star LB/edge rusher, Micah Parsons, launched his podcast called “The Edge” and on his first episode, he was speaking facts.
Parson said two things that the sports world is focusing on right now.
You can’t sleep on Brock Purdy anymore. The dude can play football.
The New York Giants should not have left Daniel Jones in for the fourth quarter and definitely should not have had him in on the last series when they had backup linemen on the field.
I see no lies here. If you want to listen to his entire podcast, check it out here.
College Football On A School Night
We’ve got two games tonight and let’s be honest, if you don’t want to watch the NFL on Amazon Prime, you probably won’t be tuning into the ACC Network. We’ll drop the schedule in for you anyway.
Bethune-Cookman @ #22 The U of Miami, 7:30 pm ET on ACC Network
Navy @ Memphis, 7:30 pm ET on ESPN
We hate to break it you but these are the kind of matchups we’ll see all weekend with college ball. Don’t worry though, things start to heat back up in week 3 when we get into conference play.
Atlanta Braves Clinch NL East
The Atlanta Braves clinched the NL East title with a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. This marks the Braves' sixth consecutive NL East title. They are also the first team to clinch their division in 2023 and the Braves currently lead the MLB with 96 wins.
That’s all for today. One more day until the week. You got this.
