Wyndham Clark Wins US Open

Happy Monday. It was a great weekend in sports and an even more exciting finish to the US Open. Here’s what we got for today:

  • US Open

  • Canadian Grand Prix

  • CONCACAF Nation’s League Final

  • Red Sox Sweep Yankees

  • College Baseball

Here we go.

US Open

Wyndham Clark won the US Open at LACC on Sunday by holding off Rory McIlroy by one stroke. Some early mistakes knocked Rickie Fowler and Scottie Scheffler out of the running. Although Clark would make some late bogeys and open the door for Rory, McIlroy couldn’t get his putting going to knock some much-needed birdies during the last 5 holes. Wyndham Clark would win his first major after playing fearlessly.. he also would win a boatload of money.

If you got nothing else to do, check out all of Clark’s final round shots.

Canadian Grand Prix

Maybe we make a deal and we won’t bring up F1 until Max Verstappen loses a race. The Red Bull racer led every lap in the race on Sunday and he did it with a dead bird stuck in his brake duct for half the race. Verstappen has now won the last 4 races and this is Red Bull’s 100th win.

The F1 circuit is heading back to Europe for a race in Austria at the end of the month.

CONCACAF Nations League Final

Last night in Las Vegas, the United States faced Canada in the Concacaf Nations League final. The USMNT started off strong with first-half goals from Folarin Balogun and Chris Richards.

Canada would have some opportunities in the 2nd half but the US defense and goalkeeper Matt Turner would keep Canada from getting on the scoreboard. The US would go on to win the match 2-0 and now the focus turns to being able to bigger wins in knockout stages.

Red Sox Sweep Yankees

The Boston Red Sox took 2 out of 3 games in New York last weekend. It wasn’t much different for the Yankees this weekend, this time playing in Boston. The Yankees were swept by the Red Sox at Fenway Park after losing 15-5 on Friday night and then losing a doubleheader yesterday 6-2 in game 1 and 4-1 in game 2.

The Red Sox have been playing mediocre ball against the rest of the league this year but they are grabbing points in the AL East with big wins against the Yankees. Boston currently sits 2 games back from 3rd place Yankees.

The Yankees will look to recover with some wins this week as they have a home stint facing Seattle for 3 games and then take on a top team in the league when they face the Texas Rangers for 3 games.

College World Series

TCU eliminated Virgina in the college world series with a 4-3 win on Sunday.

We’ve got an elimination game today at 2 pm ET on ESPN between Stanford and Tennessee. The loser of this game gets sent home.

At 7 pm ET on ESPN Wake Forest will face LSU. The Loser of this game will play the winner of the Stanford vs Tennessee game tomorrow night.

Have the day off and are looking for something to watch?

You’ve got college baseball on ESPN but there are also some UEFA Euro Qualifying matches on the schedule today.

Armenia faces Latvia today at Noon ET on FS2.

France faces Greece at 2:45 pm ET on FS1.

That’s all for today. Have a good week.
