Does Zach Wilson Hold The Jets' Destiny In His Hands
Without Aaron Rodgers, are the Jets helpless unless Zach Wilson wants to help? It’s a weird question to be asking in December and it’s a weirder situation that Zach Wilson has found himself in. We’ll dig into this and more in the next 4 minutes.
But first, Monday Night Football
MNF Football
Cincinnati Bengals (6-6) 34 | Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4) 31
🏈A Joe Burrow-less Bengals team took Jacksonville by surprise and grabbed a walk-off field goal win in overtime.
🏈 The Bengals were down and grabbed a 21-14 lead at the beginning of the 3rd quarter but would give up a Trevor Lawrence passing TD and a Lawrence rushing TD. The Bengals were down 28-21 and would score with 9:30 to go in the 4th two tied up. Both teams would trade field goals in the final two minutes to send the game to OT. Evan McPherson kicked a 48-yard to win with 1:45 left in OT.
👀 Bengals backup QB Jake Browning was 32-37 for 354 yards and a TD. The Bengals also got 68 yards and 2 TDs on the ground from Joe Mixon who carried the ball 19 times.
❤️🩹 Trevor Lawrence had to leave the game with 5 minutes left in the 4th as the Jags entered the redzone. Lawrence was dropping back for a pass and when the pocket collapsed he was stepped on by his lineman and appeared to have sprained his ankle. Hopefully, for Jacksonville, it’s not an injury that will keep Lawrence out for the long term.
👉️ There are already 5(cough cough 6 including Aaron Rodgers) starting QBs out for the season and Kenny Pickett and Trevor Lawrence went down in their games this season.

Speaking of Aaron Rodgers and QBs Being Unavailable...
…The Jets are looking for Zach Wilson to return to the team as a starter after the Tim Boyle experiment didn’t work out and Trevor Siemian was certainly a downgrade on Sunday as well.
There are reports that Wilson is reluctant to play as he doesn’t want to risk injury. Jets HC Robert Saleh said that Wilson isn’t reluctant and hasn’t told anyone of importance that he doesn’t want to play. The question is… does anyone really care?
Didn’t think so.. moving on!
It’s One Big QB Spiral Today
Zach Wilson can’t just decide to sit out, and it’s not like he’s in a position to ask for a trade, or “transfer”, but there are some college quarterbacks who can do just that.
🏈 Ohio State QB Kyle McCord has entered the transfer portal after HC Ryan Day wouldn’t commit to naming him the Cotton Bowl starter against Mizzou. Day stated, “ When you come up short, the bottom line is you got to look at everything because you didn’t get it done, and that’s the thing that is just sobering here”. The irony is palpable.
🥍 Alabama QB Tyler Buchner, who was unable to beat out Jalen Milroe for a starting spot, has entered the transfer portal. Buchner is expected to play lacrosse at the next school he chooses to attend. Buchner originally committed to Michigan to play lacrosse but later changed his decision and attended Notre Dame to play football.
🪑 You can find USC Trojans QB Caleb Willaims taking a seat when USC plays Louisville in the Holiday Bowl. Williams has elected not to play in the bowl game as he is predicted to be the #1 draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. USC’s offense averaged 41.8 points per game this season (4th in NCAA) but the Trojans finished 7-5 as their defense allowed 34.9 points per game(120th in NCAA).
🏃 Some other notable players are trying to escape their current programs. Oklahoma’s QB Dillon Gabriel, Duke’s Riley Leonard, Oregon State’s D.J. Uiagalelei, and over 1000 other players have entered the transfer portal.
Heisman Finalists Selected
We’ll do a bigger story on Saturday but for now, all you need to know is that 4 Heisman finalists have been selected and one Heisman winner will be chosen this Saturday night.
The finalists are:
Jayden Daniels, LSU QB
Michael Penix Jr. Washington QB
Bo Nix, Oregon QB
Marvin Harrison Jr. Ohio State WR
